Important stuff from this week

Palera1n jailbreak to go rootless

The palera1n team used the New Year holiday for 2023 to share the news that the palera1n jailbreak would be going rootless in the near future.

The rootless dynamic is a way for jailbreak developers to circumvent Apple’s signed system volume (SSV) security mitigations and still allow jailbreak tweaks to run. This will also have other benefits, such as a much faster jailbreak process.

You can learn more about the announcement and what it entails in our full news post.

Bypass jailbreak detection

Not a bypass in a package manager app.

A new tool called Not a bypass for the palera1n jailbreak on iOS 15 & 16 works as a global jailbreak detection bypass for a slew of different App Store apps.

The bypass may soon receive support for other jailbreaks.

Intelligent Rotation Lock controls

TwistNTurn makes it easier to disable Rotation Lock for specific apps.

TwistNTurn is a new jailbreak tweak that aims to make using Rotation Lock more user-friendly by allowing users to more easily switch to landscape mode when the tweak detects when the user might want to do so.

The tweak adds a floating Rotation Lock toggle button to the user interface that can be tapped when moving the device into landscape orientation, and when going back, the tweak intelligently re-enables Rotation Lock for portrait orientation.

You can learn more about TwistNTurn in our full review post.

Mineek’s dirtycowapp

Mineek’s dirtycowapp user interface.

Palera1n team member Mineek showed off an app on Tuesday that would allow for additional system customization on MacDirtyCow-vulnerable devices on iOS 15.x-16.1.2 without a jailbreak.

The app officially launched on Thursday, and while it has more options than it did in the teaser, Mineek says more options are coming in the future.

File manager for MacDirtyCow

Santander is a file manager app for devices using the MacDirtyCow bug.

Santander is a free file manager app that allows those taking advantage of the MacDirtyCow bug in iOS 15.x-16.1.2 to modify system files for a temporary period.

The app reminds us a lot of Filza, except that it’s not intended for jailbroken devices. All changes made in Santander revert after a reboot, but it’s not recommended that you change anything unless you know what you’re doing.
