Some people take their wallpaper selections very seriously, and that’s not surprising given the personal touch that an ideal wallpaper can give a device. But sometimes, a single wallpaper just isn’t enough to make people happy.
Here to help is a new and free add-on for both jailbroken and TrollStore devices called Evyrest by iOS developer sourcelocation, which appears to be capable of automatically changing a handset’s wallpaper from one image to another.
According to the project’s GitHub page, Everest sources images randomly from Unsplash and applies them to your device as a wallpaper. This can be a great way to keep your device looking and feeling fresh instead of looking at the same boring wallpaper all the time.
In a post shared to /r/jailbreak this week, sourcelocation mentioned that Evyrest is in a half-finished state and that it would likely be his final project for jailbroken devices and for TrollStore. Still, users are free to download and use Evyrest to their heart’s content.
Automatic wallpaper switching is also possible via the Shortcuts app starting with iOS 16 without a jailbreak, but it takes just a little more setup than Evyrest does. This method, however, works on iOS 15 and below, even without a jailbreak.
Those interested in learning more about Evyrest can download it for free from the developer’s GitHub page, where it is also open source. It can be sideloaded onto jailbroken devices with AltStore or Sideloadly, or perma-signed on non-jailbroken devices with TrollStore.
