This app for the MacDirtyCow bug can hide the Home Screen’s Dock and Home Bar, and more…

Developers appear to be finding new and creative ways of exploiting the MacDirtyCow bug to customize non-jailbroken iOS 15.x-16.1.2 devices left and right, and today is no different.

User interface of DockHider for MacDirtyCow devices.

A new and free release called Cowabunga by leminlimez allows those using a compatible device to sideload an app that can perform several system customization options, including:

  • Hide the Home Screen’s Dock.
  • Hide the Home Bar from notched devices
  • And more…

Cowabunga is installed on compatible devices with sideloading software like AltStore or Sideloadly or perma-signing software such as TrollStore. Once installed, the interface looks a little something like what you see above.

As you can see, the app features toggle switches for the individual features it supports, and a respring button that can be used to save your changes.

If you’re interested in trying Cowabunga out for yourself, then you can snag it for free from the developer’s GitHub page. iOS versions 14.0-16.1.2 are supported.
