Some of the best jailbreak tweaks for Photography on iOS 14

If you own an iPhone, then a substantial part of the user experience would be tinkering with the powerful camera systems that Apple invests millions of dollars into improving year after year. This holds true even for jailbreakers since they can enjoy even more convenience and performance out of their iPhone’s camera than basic iPhone users thanks to being free of Apple’s software limitations.

At iDownloadBlog, we’re all about jailbreak tweak discovery, and that’s why we’ve curated dedicated lists of some of the best jailbreak tweaks for different facets of iOS and iPadOS 14, an outline of which will appear at the bottom of this post. But given just how important photography is to the iPhone’s user experience, we couldn’t help but explore some of the best jailbreak tweaks for augmenting this aspect of the platform.

In today’s roundup, we’ll showcase what we believe are some of the best jailbreak tweaks for the Camera app and for mobile photography in general. If you’re jailbroken and take a lot of photos, then you won’t want to miss this this one.

The best jailbreak tweaks for Photography on iOS 14

Lumi – $3.99

A camera’s low-light performance is one of the most important factors when it comes to gauging whether it will perform in everyday scenarios. Apple has significantly improved the low-light performance of its iPhone cameras over the years, with Night Mode becoming a major help in more recent iterations.

But let’s say you need more… what can you do? You can use a jailbreak tweak called Lumi, of course. Rather than using post-processing to improve the brightness of the photos you take, Lumi conducts real-time exposure adjustments to increase the brightness of your photo before you snap it. This is much better, as depicted in the before (left) and after (right) images above.

You can learn all about Lumi and how it works to improve your nighttime photographs in our full review post.

iPad Cam – FREE

There’s not much dispute over the notion that the iPad has a sleeker Camera app user interface than the iPhone does, and given how popular the iPhone really is, it’s weird to see this be the case.

If you wish your iPhone had as cool of a Camera app user interface as your iPad, then a free jailbreak tweak called iPad Cam could be the ideal add-on for you. It does away with the unsightly blocky black borders and gives the interface a full-screen viewfinder in addition to iPad-esque controls.

DeleteForeverXS – FREE

I really dislike the two-step deletion process that comes with deleting photos and videos from the Photo Library. After removing them, they go to the Recently Deleted album, where they’ll need to be deleted for a second time.

DeleteForeverXS is a free jailbreak tweak that automates this process, allowing you to delete photos and videos just once without having to deal with the Recently Deleted album.

Campy – FREE

After you take photos or videos with your jailbroken iPhone, you’re likely to want to share your result with someone else. Campy is a handy and highly configurable jailbreak tweak that can be used to make sharing easier.

Among the things you can do with Campy are generate animated GIF images from video files in your Photo Library, remove unwanted EXIF data from photos and media, import photos and media that exist in your pasteboard to your Photo Library, and a whole lot more.

DontSaveMessagePhotos – FREE

I can’t count the number of times I snap a photograph from the Messages app just to send to someone else. Yet, my iPhone saves that image to my Camera Roll when I don’t really need it there. It almost always ends in me deleting the photograph after it has served its purpose for my recipient.

DontSaveMessagePhotos is a free jailbreak tweak that prevents this from happening in the first place. When you take a photo via the Messages app, that image gets sent to the recipient, but iOS won’t retain a copy of its own in the Photos app. It’s highly convenient and straightforward if this is something that peeves you as much as it does me.

HiddenLock14 – FREE

In case you didn’t already know, the Photos app sports a “Hidden” album, which you can banish photos and videos to if you want to keep them separate from your Photo Library. This can help prevent sensitive media from being seen when you show photos and videos to friends.

Unfortunately, the “Hidden” album isn’t as hidden as it could be. Anyone can tap on this album to see what’s inside, and that’s why a jailbreak tweak called HiddenLock14 is so important, as it requires biometric authentication to view the contents of your Photos app’s Hidden album.

Front Zoom Dial – FREE

It’s frustrating that Apple invests so much time and effort in making the rear-facing camera on the iPhone high-tech but doesn’t do the same for the front-facing camera. If you need evidence of this, just think about the fact that zoom isn’t supported by the selfie camera.

Front Zoom Dial is a simple and free jailbreak tweak that fixes that problem by allowing jailbreakers to zoom in at least 2x with the front-facing camera on their pwned iPhones.

You can learn more about Front Zoom Dial in our full review post.

QuickMarkup – FREE

Markup is such a useful way to annotate photos and screenshots after you’ve saved them, but for whatever reason, it’s a convoluted process to get to it.

QuickMarkup is a free jailbreak tweak that puts the Markup button right in your face, allowing you to get to it more easily and annotate your photos and screenshots with less fuss.

You can learn more about QuickMarkup and why it’s a vast improvement over stock iOS 14 in our full review post.

FuturistiCam – $1.40

From less of a utilitarian perspective, and more of a novelty perspective, FuturistiCam is a tweak that you can show non-jailbreakers to make them more curious about jailbreaking and what it can do.

This tweak simply adds an animated overlay to your Camera app’s viewfinder, making it look cool to any onlookers.
