Before you begin, you should know that Reddit does not offer an official way to see deleted posts and comments. If it did, deleting would almost be meaningless.

Therefore, you will have to rely on unofficial workarounds, hoping one of them works.

If you do not have the Reddit post URL

This method and the next two will only work if the deleted Reddit post was public and available for a while. If the user posted it and deleted it immediately, the crawlers/bots may not have had time to save a copy of it.

Use PullPush

PullPush indexes Reddit content, and it can help you view posts and comments that are no longer available on the platform. To use it, visit search.pullpush.io or search-new.pullpush.io. Enter the username of the person whose post or comment you want to see. Next, fill in other details like Subreddit name, date, etc., to help narrow down the results.

If you have the Reddit post URL

You can use these two methods if you had saved the URL of the Reddit post for going through it later or if you find the URL somewhere.

Use Wayback Machine

Internet Archive Wayback Machine keeps copies of web pages by date. You can use this to see the previous version of a web page, even if that page has been deleted or edited.

Now, while you may find several previous versions of popular websites and web pages on Wayback Machine, the chances of it archiving an obscure Reddit post or comment are low.

However, if the Reddit post was popular or even mildly viral, it may be archived automatically by Wayback Machine, or someone may have done it manually.

In this case, if you have the deleted post’s URL, visit web.archive.org, paste the URL here to see the original post.

Use Google cache

Similar to Wayback Machine, you can use Google’s cache feature to see a deleted web page or Reddit post, provided you have the URL of that Reddit post. You should also be able to see deleted comments under a Reddit post just by using the post URL (and not necessarily the comment URL).

Add the Reddit post URL at the end of this one and hit the enter key. https://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:

For example: https://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:https://www.reddit.com/r/airpods/comments/1cb9phj/

You can also enter the shortened version in your browser’s address bar if Google is the default search engine: cache:https://www.reddit.com/r/airpods/comments/1cb9phj/

If Google has a cached version of that post, you will be able to see it.

Some other things you can try

In case the previously mentioned tips do not work for you, give these ones a try. But note that it will work only if the post or comment was at least mildly popular, newsworthy, or controversial enough to be shared by other people.

Search on Reddit

Even though the original Reddit post or comment was deleted, someone else may have taken a screenshot and posted it on Reddit. Try to find it using the words or phrases of the deleted post you seem to recall.

Find it on Twitter (X)

If the Reddit post was popular, someone may have taken a screenshot and posted it on Twitter or other social platforms. Try searching on Twitter using the Reddit user’s name or post title and words you can recall.

Look at news websites and forums

While most new websites embed Reddit posts directly to their article, much like embedding Twitter links, some may take a screenshot and use that instead so that even if the original social media post is edited or deleted, their article carries the original, unchanged version.

If the deleted Reddit post you are trying to find was popular or newsworthy, some sites may have covered it. Use Google to find it.
