Some of the best jailbreak tweaks for porting new features to older handsets

One of my favorite things to do with a jailbroken iPhone, especially an older one, is to port newer features to it that Apple ordinarily blocks that device from using. This is common practice from Apple after a new product launch or a substantial software update.

Port unsupported features to older iPhones.

In today’s roundup, we will be showing you what we believe are some of the best jailbreak tweaks for porting newer features to unsupported devices so that even your ancient handsets can feel as modern as the latest and greatest.

So without further ado, let’s get started!

Best feature-porting jailbreak tweaks

Dynamic Peninsula – $3.99

Dynamic Peninsula framed with notch.

Don’t you love the new features of the Dynamic Island on the iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max? We do too!

Apple unfortunately didn’t show the same love for the many notched handsets that are already in circulation, so Elias Limneos set out to port them to notched handsets, and the new Dynamic Peninsula jailbreak tweak was thus born.

Live Text Enabler – FREE

Three iPhone mockups that show using Live Text to recognize and copy, translate, or use words, sentences and text found in the video

You can enable the Live Text Feature on unsupported iPhones such as the A9-A11 varieties ranging from the iPhone 7 to the iPhone X with PoomSmart’s handy Live Text Enabler jailbreak tweak.

Once installed, your Camera app will be able to recognize text and make it selectable in the viewfinder. This includes text in Photos and Videos that already exist in the Photos app.

LPMPad – FREE

Enable Low Power Mode on jailbroken iPads.

Got a jailbroken iPad that doesn’t support the native Low Power Mode?

No problem. The free LPMPad jailbreak tweak can enable this feature so that you can use Low Power Mode to conserve power on your tablet just like you do on your iPhone.

Live Activities – $2.99

Lock Screen Live Activities enabled on a jailbroken iPhone.

One of the new features of iOS 16 is the ability to see Live Activities on your Lock Screen. These may include timers, stopwatches, events, Now Playing music, reminders, and more.

If you ever wished your older jailbroken device could do the same, then you’re going to appreciate the Live Activities jailbreak tweak since it ports this feature to older devices.

11Cam15 – FREE

Features of 11Cam15 ported to older iPhones.

The 11Cam15 jailbreak tweak ports the numerous features and improvements found in the iPhone 11’s Camera app to older handsets that are still using the ancient photography interface.

Among the things this tweak ports over are the zoom platter, additional zooming and real-time photography options, and more.

You can learn about everything 11Cam15 brings to the table in our full review post.

Quick Notes Enabler – FREE

Quick Notes on an iPad.

Quick Notes is a feature that iPad users on newer hardware and the latest version of iPadOS can use to jot down notes from just about anywhere in the operating system with a simple swipe gesture from the corner of the display with their finger or Apple Pencil.

Unfortunately, Apple selectively disabled this feature on older handsets, which means it’s limited to newer iPads only. But PoomSmart’s Quick Notes Enabler tweak can change that for the older iPads that have been jailbroken.

You can find out more about Quick Notes Enabler in our full review post.

App Library Enabler – FREE

Enable the App Library on jailbroken iPads.

Got a jailbroken iPad that doesn’t yet have access to the App Library like newer versions do? We have the solution.

App Library Enabler is a free jailbreak tweak by PoomSmart that lets jailbroken iPad users enjoy the same App Library experience than iPhone users do.

Exiwall – $2.49

Enable iOS 16’s Lock Screen depth effect on older jailbroken devices.

If you’re jailbroken, then we’re willing to bet you’re not on iOS 16. This means you probably don’t have the cool new depth effects that the iOS 16 Lock Screen brings to the table unless you’re using the Exiwall jailbreak tweak.

With Exiwall, you can have the subject of your Lock Screen’s wallpaper pop up above the time display just like it would on iOS 16 despite the fact that you aren’t using iOS 16.

You can find out more about Exiwall and how it works in our full review post.

HiddenLock14 – FREE

Make the user authenticate themselves before entering the Hidden album in your Photos app.

The HiddenLock14 jailbreak tweak simply locks the Hidden album in your Photos app behind an authentication barrier so that unauthorized users that you hand your iPhone to can’t snoop.

This is a standard feature in iOS 16, but if you’re jailbroken, then you’re running something older than iOS 16 and won’t have access to this useful feature until you install the HiddenLock14 jailbreak tweak.

Anywhere Widgets for iPad – FREE

Make the user authenticate themselves before entering the Hidden album in your Photos app.

Anyone using a jailbroken iPad might be wondering how they can use the advanced widgets on their Home Screen like they can already on their iPhone.

The free Anywhere Widgets for iPad jailbreak tweak by PoomSmart is the solution, as it lets you have Home Screen widgets on your iPad in the same manner as how you’ve been enjoying them on the iPhone.

You can find out more about how the Anywhere Widgets for iPad jailbreak tweak works in our full review post.

Advanced Map Enabler – FREE

Advanced Map Enabler allows advanced mapping and globe features on unsupported iOS 15 devices.

Advanced Maps app features, such as being able to view a globe when you zoom out far enough, are disabled on older handsets for some reason.

PoomSmart’s Advanced Map Enabler jailbreak tweak unlocks their capability on those older jailbroken handsets that can’t do this, effectively bringing them up to speed with Apple’s latest and greatest handsets.

Conclusion

That brings this special roundup to a close, but the jailbreak community is constantly porting new features to older jailbroken handsets. With that in mind, this won’t be the last time you see information about a feature porting jailbreak tweak from us.
