Jailbreak tweaks of the week: Aemulo, AVPhotos, & more…

Jailbreaking your iPhone or iPad breaks your handset free of the software limitations imposed by Apple right out of the box, and that’s one of the chief reasons why we focus so much on jailbreaking here at iDownloadBlog.

But we also know just how discouraging it can be for new jailbreakers to know where they should start after liberating their handset for the first time, and that’s why we try to make jailbreak tweak discovery as simple as possible with weekly roundups like this one.

In today’s roundup, we’ll recap everything new from this past week, spanning Monday, October 25th to Sunday, October 31st. As always, we’ll kick things off with a summary of our favorite jailbreak tweak releases first and then wrap things up with an outline of all other releases and jailbreak-centric news at the end.

Our favorite releases this week

Aemulo – $1.49, but soon to be free…

Aemulo is a jailbreak tweak and app-in-one that unlocks powerful new NFC capabilities that Apple hasn’t enabled on stock iPhones, such as reading and writing to NFC tag devices, emulating NFC tags, and being able to add NFC tags directly to iOS’ native Wallet app.

Aemulo has been under development for more than a year, and supports jailbroken iOS 13 and 14 devices, but newer devices with more advanced NFC capabilities have the most to gain from it.

You can learn more about what Aemulo can and can’t do, as well as when it’s expected to become free to download, in our full review post.

AVPhotos – FREE

By default, videos played via iOS’ native Photos app play from a distinctively handicapped video player. With it, users are missing out on so many useful features, such as Picture-in-Picture mode.

AVPhotos forced videos played from the Photos app to play via iOS’ native video player, which unlocks Picture-in-Picture mode capabilities, among other useful things.

You can read all about AVPhotos and why we highly recommend it to all jailbreakers in our full review post.

NotiSound – $0.99

NotiSound is a useful jailbreak tweak for iOS & iPadOS 13 and 14 devices that lets the end user customize notification sounds for every app on their device.

Apple allows you to do this for select apps on your handset already, but NotiSound extends that functionality to all other apps. Best of all, you can also import your own sounds if the default ones aren’t good enough for you.

You can learn all about NotiSound and how it works in our full review post.

unc0ver: Pwn20wnd released unc0ver v7.0.0 shortly after Linus Henze launched his Fugu14 untether, and this release added preliminary support for the untether, which needed to be installed manually by the end user.

Update to Fugu14 & unc0ver: Linuz Henze updated the Fugu14 untether to address a sleep/wake issue that had been reported, and then Pwn20wnd updated the unc0ver jailbreak tool to version 7.0.1 with stability improvements and further support.

What You Need to Know About Fugu14 and unc0ver: Many are confused about how the untether works with the semi-untethered unc0ver jailbreak, and we made a write-up to explain more about how it works.

Although that’s everything we have for you this week, we encourage you to come around again this same time next week for a roundup just like this one, albeit with refreshed jailbreak content reflecting the times.
