Powershot is a useful screenshot annotation and markup app for Mac

I take a lot of screenshots for a variety of purposes, often times for inclusion in a blog post or to simply show something quickly to someone. For that reason, I was interested in trying a new app called Powershot that I stumbled upon in the Mac App Store. The simple OS X utility allows you to annotate and markup screenshots systemwide, without the need to use third-party software. Read ahead for a closer look at how the app works…

Salt & Pepper review: fill the bowls to win

Most people mix salt and pepper on their food. In fact, someone should invent a container that holds both seasonings together so you don’t have to go through all those extra steps. It is very rare that you’d meet a person that keeps salt and pepper separate on their plate. However, this game requires that you separate your seasonings by filling them into bowls.

Salt & Pepper: A Physics Game is what it says, a physics-based puzzle game. Players must fill the black bowl with pepper and the white bowl with salt. However, when walls, blocks, and moving platforms block the pathway, getting the seasonings into their respective bowls is much harder than you’d think…

Darkrume review: a beautiful Flickr client for the iPad

Flickr is one of those great social photography websites that got lost in the shuffle when Instagram hit the mobile world. While the service has done a lot to stay relevant, it still lags behind when it comes to sharing photos with friends.

Darkrume is a high-quality Flickr client for the iPad that may just rekindle your love of the photo storage online service. With an immersive interface and 64-bit performance, your Flickr pics have never looked so good. Read on for our Darkrume review…

Spotology review: simple, but addicting

I’m oftentimes surprised at how much time I spend on a single game on any given day. I know a game is going to be good when I go back to it again and again, even after I’ve finished testing it.

Spotology is one of those simple games that I first thought was good enough for a review, but a week after getting it, realized that I can’t stop playing it. We’ve got a game review of Spotology for your enjoyment below…

Thomas Was Alone review: making friends in a pixelated existence

It’s interesting to see trends unfold right before your eyes. No, minimalist platform games are not new. However, their popularity has grown significantly in the past few months. The games are oftentimes thought provoking while offering a decent bit of fun.

Thomas Was Alone is a fascinating platformer that uses a minimalistic design but combines it with the complex narrative of a group of coding errors that have a mind of their own. Check out our game review of Thomas Was Alone below…

Bricks – Arcade Game review: a brick breaking game with a twist

The brick-breaking genre is decades old. Breakout was one of Atari’s early runaway hits in the mid 1970s. It spawned generations of clones and homages (Did you know that, if you type “Atari Breakout” into a Google image search, you can play the game with the image results?).

Bricks is a version of the brick-breaking genre that bucks tradition and leaves you with a completely new love of the arcade classic. Your iPhone is the paddle and the wall surrounds you in this new take on an old favorite. We’ve got a review of Bricks – Arcade Game for you below…

Boximize review: turn your notes into personal databases

When I think of note taking apps, I assume that their main function is to allow you to jot down important information so you can easily access it later. Good note taking apps let you organize entries by date or category. Everything else is just gravy.

Boximize turns the whole note-taking production and turns it on its head. Now, you can organize notes into collections with customizable fields so your thoughts and ideas become a complex database. We have a detailed Boximize review for you below…

Last Inua review: iOS platform games just keep getting better and better

A few weeks ago, we reviewed Leo’s Fortune and found it to be one of the best platform games to ever come out on iOS. It is proof that mobile gaming really can be impressive

Last Inua – An Arctic Adventure is another impressive platform game that looks great and offers an interesting level of challenging puzzles. We spent some time with the platformer and have a Last Inua review for you below…

Kiwanuka review: stack all the people in this unique puzzle game

Because I’ve been in the app review business for a few years now, I tend to have a cynical mind when I hear certain words like “endless runner” and “physics-based puzzler.” It's true that some games will surprise me and rekindle my love of those genres, but I’ve gotten to the point where I start to feel like, if you’ve seen one, you’ve seen them all.

Kiwanuka both adheres to traditional physics-based puzzler games, and breaks from the mold at the same time. Each level offers a new challenge to overcome (traditional), but the game doesn’t feel like the same old thing in a new skin. Its simplicity is actually its positive selling point. Read along for our Kiwanuka review to help you decide if it is something you’d like to try…

Noisli review: sleep well to the sounds of nature

I’ve been getting wonderful, full nights of sleep lately thanks to this new app I’ve been testing. I’m one of those people who love being lulled to sleep by the comforting sounds of ocean waves, waterfalls, and chirping birds. I never leave home without some kind of audio aid for sleeping.

Noisli is an audio app that features realistic sounds of nature. What makes this app stand out from the rest is its iOS 7 theme. Get a good night’s sleep while being soothed with the visually comforting, colorful glow of your iPhone screen. Check out our Noisli review after the break…

Vhoto review: get the best photos out of your videos

I may have mentioned before that I like to take pictures of bands. I’m always trying to get great pictures of a guitarist doing a mid-solo jump, or a singer climbing around on PA speakers. It’s a lot harder than you’d think, especially using the iPhone camera since the shutter triggers just a bit slower than I’d like.

Vhoto takes all of the guesswork out of knowing the right time take a picture by turning your video clips into photos. You don’t have to scroll through frame after frame either. Check out our Vhoto review to learn more…

Talisman review: an old-school board game comes to life on the iPad

Talisman is a fantasy board game that first came out in 1983. Fans of role-playing titles were keen on this adventure because it mixes traditional adventuring with a bit of character stats building. The game has been revised three times and has about a half dozen expansions under its name.

Talisman: Digital Edition is the only official licensed version of the decades old game and uses the revised fourth-edition rulebook. Now you can role the dice to see where you will journey while playing alone, or against up to three additional players on Game Center. Check out our Talisman review after the break...
