TwitkaFly Jailbreak Tweak Brings System-Wide Tweeting to iOS

With Twitter becoming the world's water cooler, everyone is scrambling to integrate the social network into their software and hardware, with Apple being no exception.

When iOS 5 ships to eager users later this year, it will have Twitter baked right into its core, with contact syncing as the only real feature to be yet demonstrated by Apple.

What we really want from iOS 5 Twitter integration is system-wide tweeting. Being able to send new tweets without having to stop what you are doing would be really cool, though we're not holding out much hope that Apple will give it to us.

Once again though, the jailbreak scene has us covered, with TwitkaFly doing the business this time around...

TweetBot for iPhone Getting Push Notifications?

RazorianFly is reporting that Tapbots, the creators of many popular iPhone apps, will bring Push Notifications to their popular Twitter application, "TweetBot." The update supporting Push Notifications should be out very soon.

Tapbots teased this on Twitter when a user by the name of "@NotoriousUSB" tweeted to them about not using TweetBot anymore, due to the lack of Push Notifications.

iOS 5’s Hidden Twitter Functionality Hints at More to Come

Just before Apple's big iOS 5 reveal at WWDC a few weeks ago, rumors began circulating that Apple was planning to integrate Twitter right into the system. At the time we didn't know whether the rumors were true or not, let alone how deeply integrated it would eventually turn out to be.

When Steve Jobs and his band of merry men took to the stage at WWDC, we finally saw what Apple had in store for us, but despite iOS 5 largely hitting the spot we couldn't help but feel let down by the fabled Twitter integration, at least in its current form...

Twitter on iPhone: By the Numbers [Infographic]

It's no secret that Twitter has become incredibly successful as a social network and publication tool. A large part of the site's success is thanks to the mobile implementation we've seen in an array of third party clients over the years.

Particularly, on the iPhone, Twitter apps are a dime a dozen. You've got the official client, TweetDeck, Echofon, Tweetbot, etc. all clamoring for attention in the App Store.

iOS 5 Brings Complete Twitter Integration

As expected, Twitter is going to be a big part of iOS 5. Apple's goal was to make Twitter easier to use in iOS 5, and it seems that they're going to succeed. In iOS 5, Apple has added "Single Sign On," a feature that allows you to login to Twitter directly from your Settings app.

Also as expected, Twitter has been integrated into the Photo and Camera apps. From now on, you can send pictures directly to Twitter without having to launch an app, or rely on a jailbreak tweak. In addition, you can tweet from Safari, from YouTube, or from Maps...
