Another iOS 5 Jailbreak Tweak Rolls Out: WeeTwitter Widget – Video Tutorial Inside

If you’ve been holding off on jailbreaking iOS 5, you might be interested to know that a new jailbreak utility is available for the beta software. Like UISettings, this tweak sits in your Notification Center pull down menu.

WeeTwitter is a Twitter widget for the new Notification Center in iOS 5. It displays a segment of your Twitter timeline, as well as other Twitter features like @ messages and Search. How can you get your hands on this cutting edge jailbreak release?

As you can see from the video tutorial above, all it takes is a quick download of the WeeTwitter .deb file (it’s not currently available on Cydia) and an installation via iFile.

The steps are as follows:
1: Download the .deb file via mobile Safari
2: Open the .deb file with iFile and select ‘Installer’
3: Login to Twitter via mobile Safari
4: Respring and verify your Twitter widget is logged in via Notification Center

Keep in mind that you will need a jailbroken iPhone, and iFile installed to use this method. You can respring by installing/uninstalling an app in Cydia since we don’t have SBSettings available yet.

There are of course other more cumbersome ways of accomplishing the install, but this is by far the easiest method of doing so.

With so much potential and so much attention from the jailbreak community, it’ll be interesting to see if Apple decides to open up The Notification Center for 3rd party developers. Actually, it’s probably more of a when than an if question.

What do you think? Have you tried WeeTwitter?
