Fingal brings your app icons to life

Take a moment to look at the Home screen on your iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad; what do you see? Some things that come to my mind are: stillness, simplicity, and boredom.

With a promising new jailbreak tweak release dubbed Fingal, which is now available as a free download in Cydia's ModMyi repository, you can add a touch of motion and liveliness to your Home screen.

Review: Aukey Optic Pro wide-angle camera lens attachment for iPhone [Video]

The Aukey Optic Pro is a wide-angle lens attachment that works with the iPhone. Thanks to its clip that can accommodate a wide variety of devices, it also works with many other tablet or phone form factors.

The main benefit to using an attachment like the Optic Pro is that you can gain a wider field of view while shooting photos or videos. This means that you don't have to move further away from your subject to capture more scenery in frame.

If you're an avid iPhone photographer, you can immediately see the benefits that a device like this can bring to the table. Not only does it quickly lend a wider field of view, but it's portable, and can be added and removed in mere seconds.

But the Aukey Optic Pro isn't without its shortcomings. Is the $44.99 device worth it? Check out our full video walkthrough for the answer.

Aura for Mac brings Quick Replies to your Gmail conversations

Unlike most desktop notifiers that merely send you to Gmail's mobile interface on the web, the most recent update to a cool Mac app called Aura actually implements Quick Reply functionality so you can reply to messages, or add a new message to any thread—right from its notification banner.

This nifty little app can save you time when you need to fire off a one-line response. It supports Gmail and Google Apps accounts, it's fully native and optimized for OS X Yosemite and El Capitan.

This jailbreak tweak keeps Low Power Mode on even after a full charge

Low Power Mode is one of the new features of iOS 9 that allows you to keep your battery usage as low as possible throughout the day when you want to conserve battery life and you feel your battery level is getting to the point where you might not last until you can get to a charger.

Unfortunately, while most of us enjoy reaping the benefits of Low Power Mode, whether we have a low battery level or not, iOS automatically disables the feature when your device gets charged up enough, forcing you to go to the Settings app and re-enable Low Power Mode manually.

That's where a new free jailbreak tweak in Cydia's BigBoss repository called LowPowerMode is going to make your life a whole lot easier.

Remote Buddy review: control your Mac from Apple TV via Siri Remote

Don't you wish there was a hassle-free way to bring your Mac apps, documents, media, games and more to the big screen—and control them? Enter Remote Buddy, a sweet little app by Roth, Germany based developer Felix Schwarz.

This high-performance screen sharing software—along with its tvOS, watchOS and iOS apps—streams your Mac's screen to the new Apple TV and turns the Siri Remote into a trackpad, a full virtual keyboard and an advanced remote so you can control Mac apps with gestures and shortcuts, without getting off that couch of yours.

Building on the latest GPU and CPU technologies, Remote Buddy uses a proprietary engine to deliver up to 60 frames per second with a latency of around 0.1 seconds so you really get a smooth, high-speed screen sharing experience.

Having taken Remote Buddy for a quick spin, I'm happy to report that it works incredibly well and really comes in handy when you want to do simple tasks on your desktop-bound Mac without actually sitting in front of your computer.

Griddy brings a grid-style App Switcher to your jailbroken iPhone

Among one of the funnest things to modify when you have a jailbroken iOS device is the App Switcher – the jailbreak community has thought up and created a wide variety of App Switcher replacements that have been released in the Cydia Store, some better than others.

One of the more recent that you shouldn't deprive yourself of checking out is Griddy, a new jailbreak tweak from Cydia's BigBoss repository that gives your App Switcher a much more grid-like experience.

This Catalyst case protects your Apple Watch from water and debris for under $60

In August of last year, Catalyst unveiled the first (to my knowledge) fully waterproof case for the Apple Watch. Where other cases merely provide drop protection or, at most, water resistance, the Catalyst Case is fully IP-68 spec waterproof for up to 5 meters.

Given Catalyst’s reputation for making well-designed products, I jumped at the chance to give their Apple Watch case a try. I’ve been using it every day on my own sport model Watch for the past several weeks, and I’m finally prepared to share my thoughts.

Bring iOS 9.3’s new Night Shift mode to your computer with f.lux for Mac

Yesterday, Anthony blogged about a cool app that lets you dim your Mac's display brightness even further and beyond the minimum allowed by OS X.

Today, we discuss an app for adjusting the brightness and colors of your Mac's display, called f.lux, which essentially replicates functionality provided by Apple's new Night Shift mode on iOS 9.3.

Like Night Shift mode, f.lux helps prevent eyestrain when using your Mac at night (it's also available on jailbroken and non-jailbroken iOS devices)

LONEWOLF review: become a paid assassin with a secret mission

I love sniper games. One of my biggest complaints with first-person shooters like Call of Duty is that you rarely get the chance to simply hide in the bushes and shoot people at your leisure.

With LONEWOLF, it is all sniping and very little return fire. But, that doesn't mean it isn't an intense game with plenty of action. Check out my game review of LONEWOLF for more information.
