When you miss a call on your iPhone, the Phone app tells you who the caller was and when they called. But one thing it doesn’t show you is how long the caller waited for you to pick up before ending the call.
The iPhone’s native Phone app contains a list of all recent phone calls, both incoming and outgoing. It’s a handy feature for checking your call history, but it’s certainly limited in its capacity to serve users.
Despite how iPhones are personal pocket computers with so much more capability than merely placing phone calls, the native Phone app is still an integral part of the device’s user experience. Still, Apple almost never provides any upgrades to this seemingly under appreciated component of the iPhone.
With all the extravagant changes Apple seems to be making to the iOS mobile operating system with respect to recent updates, it remains to be seen why important things such as the native Phone app haven’t received new or useful functionality.
iOS developer MiRO92 recognized at least one way that the Phone app could be improved, and as such, created a jailbreak tweak dubbed Searchy.
It goes without saying that the vast majority of iPhone users resort to using the stock Contacts app that Apple pre-installs from the factory for managing their contact list. Not only is it easy to use, but it integrates more deeply with the rest of iOS than most third-party alternatives from the App Store.
Of the multitude of different things I use on my iPhone on a daily basis, the Calculator and Phone apps are definitely high on that list.
But sometimes life catches us in a pinch, and that’s why having the ability to access these tools without unlocking our iPhones and finding and launching the Calculator or Phone apps can come in handy.
The iOS 14.5 update that launched almost a month ago fixed an annoying bug impacting iOS 14.0-14.4.2 devices in which when an iPhone connected to CarPlay, any paired Apple Watches would inconveniently stop notifying the user about incoming phone calls.
It seems like it’s been forever since the last time I witnessed an ordinary flip phone in the wild. Today’s vibrant selection of smartphones has all but phased them out. But if there’s one thing I remember from the times they were the mainstream, it was the T9 dialing experience intended for the 3x4 physical dial pads.
Apple is making some changes to a feature, introduced with iOS 13, that lets you avoid getting unwanted calls from people you don’t know. In iOS 14.5, Apple's added an informative splash screen along with a banner in your phone recents to make this helpful feature front and center.
We all probably have at least a few favorite contacts saved on our iPhones, whether it’s close family or our best of friends. Fortunately, Apple allows you to set up favorite contacts in the Phone app so that it’s easier to get in touch with them when life necessitates it.
Designating a contact as a ‘favorite’ contact in the Phone app moves that person’s contact information to the dedicated Favorites tab at the bottom of the app, but if you were looking for even more added convenience, then we think you’ll come to appreciate a newly released and free jailbreak tweak called CallFavorites by iOS developer pixelomer.
If you’re searching for quirky and unique ways to make your pwned handset stand out from the rest, then a new and free jailbreak tweak dubbed RomanPad by iOS developer Simalary might be able to help.
Just as the tweak’s name implies, RomanPad replaces the traditional numbers on the buttons on the passcode and phone dialer interfaces with Roman numerals.
