Fail: Fox 5 News reports the iPhone 5 has laser keyboard

If you've ever seen your local news station report about Apple products, or other tech-related topics, you know it isn't always the best coverage. Let's just say, technology isn't really their strength.

That was once again confirmed last night, as Fox 5 News in New York inaccurately reported on the iPhone 5 and its features, claiming Apple's new handset has a "laser keyboard and holographic images..."

Concept video shows off possible iPhone 5 design and features

We're just a little more than 24 hours away from Apple's big iPhone event, where the company is expected to unveil the latest iteration of its popular smartphone.

And what would an impending Apple event be without a concept video? Check out this clip we came across that shows off possible iPhone 5 design and features...

Video demo shows rumored 4-inch iPhone display in action

The 4-inch display rumored to debut in Apple's next smartphone has received mixed reactions from the tech community. It has a resolution of 1136 x 640, meaning it's the same width as before, just a bit taller. And some folks don't like that.

Why would Apple make the display in the new iPhone taller but not wider? We're sure it has its technical reasons, but the elongated screen, to us, seems like it would improve things like movie-watching and games. Here, watch this video...

Concept shows what Apple’s 30-pin adapter could look like

Of all the things we think we know about Apple's next smartphone, a smaller dock connector seems to be one of the most certain. After several years, it appears Apple is finally prepared to ditch its trusty 30-pin design in favor of a smaller solution.

And this has a lot of folks nervous. The aftermarket for 30-pin-style accessories has to be one of the largest in the business. And we've all got loads of iPhone chargers and docks that could become useless as of next month. Or will they?

New iPhone 5 concept surfaces based on latest rumors

Between all of the leaked components, engineering samples, and cases we've seen so far, it feels like we have a pretty good idea of what Apple's next smartphone is going to look like. And in case you were having trouble visualizing it, we decided to post this new 'iPhone 5' concept that was drawn-up based on all of the recent rumors...

More gorgeous renderings of the new iPhone

Last week, some amazing renderings of  — what much of the tech world is assuming to be — the next generation iPhone surfaced on the net. They looked so good, in fact, that a lot of us wondered if they were the real deal.

But alas, they weren't. As we later found out, the images were just a gorgeous 3D art project by designer Martin Hayjek. And today, he's back with some even better looking renderings of the new iPhone in white...

Gorgeous iOS concept shows off dynamic icon badges and more

With WWDC coming up on Monday, there's only a few days left to speculate on what new goodies Apple will unveil. We know for sure that iOS 6 is on the menu, but what new features will the update bring?

The consensus seems to be that, other than a number of revamped applications, Apple's mobile OS will remain largely unchanged from its predecessor. But that doesn't mean that we can't dream big...

Video of “iPhone 5” renderings brings rumors and leaked parts to life

Despite an abundance of claims from insider sources that the recently-leaked metal iPhone backing is the real deal, a lot of folks remain skeptical of its legitimacy. Could this really be what Apple's next smartphone looks like?

Well a new video has surfaced this morning that aims to show us what the next-generation iPhone could look like, should these leaked parts and other rumors materialize this fall. And we have to admit, it looks good...

Really awesome Facebook phone mockup surfaces, our jaws drop

You must have heard rumors of Facebook poaching former and current Apple hardware and software engineers to work on its not-so-secret phone project. So, a Facebook phone.

We're still scratching our head over this rumored device. Why on Earth Facebook won't Facebook focus on perfecting its subpar mobile apps rather than waste its energies cracking the hardware biz it literally knows nothing about?

Regardless of the hearsay, here's a really interesting mockup which depicts perfectly what a Facebook phone might look like...

Mockup depicts enhanced Maps on four-inch iPhone 5

As you know, iOS 6 will bring an all-new Maps app said to feature Apple's own tiles and brand new in-house solution for breathtaking 3D view.

Though Google is expected to add the third dimension to its own Maps service as early as Wednesday, we've already seen screenshot mockups depicting 3D terrain in iOS 6 Maps.

As for the enhanced two-dimensional view, here's what the new Maps app could look like on that next iPhone that by all accounts seems to feature a taller four-inch display...

New iPhone concept looks surprisingly realistic

There's been no shortage of iPhone mockups this year. Graphic designers are constantly releasing renderings of what they think Apple's next smartphone should look like. Heck, we've even seen a fair amount of video concepts.

But while a number of these mockups tend to border on fantasy, this new design focuses on realism. iTopnews.de's creative director Toby Kick brings his vision for the new iPhone to life using only the most feasible of features...

Mockups show how apps would benefit from a 4-inch iPhone

The 4-inch iPhone. According to just about every major news publication — The Wall Street Journal, Reuters, etc. — it's coming. But where does that leave the 600,000+ apps designed for a 3.5" screen and their developers?

Well the most popular theory for how Apple will go about making a 4-inch iPhone is to give it a resolution of 640x1158, and an aspect ratio of 9:5. So Overdrive Design decided to show us what that would do to current apps...
