Lara Croft GO gets its first expansion

Just in time for Thanksgiving, Square Enix's Lara Croft GO for iOS has received its first expansion pack following the game's August 2015 debut in the App Store. Titled “The Shard of Life” and available at no charge to those who have purchased the game, the update packs in more than two-dozen additional levels and a bunch of new monsters to defeat, costumes to unlock and gemstones and artifacts to discover.

How to save Vine videos

Who knew 6-second-long looping video clips would turn out to be so much fun? If you're into short-form entertainment, there's probably no better place to get your daily fix of user-posted clips, some of which are quite interesting—I've seen whole how-tos compressed into six seconds—than Vine.

The problem is, both Vine the website and mobile app prohibit you from saving your favorite clips to your computer or mobile device. Thankfully, there are apps for that, too.

In this tutorial, you'll learn how to save Vine videos to your iPhone, iPod touch, iPad or Mac using a nifty little utility and a free of charge web app.

Pixelmator for Mac goes half price, iOS version discounted to $1.99

Pixelmator for OS X, the Mac edition of the powerful image editing application which debuted on iOS in October 2014, has gone half price in the Mac App Store today. In addition, the iPhone, iPod touch and iPad edition of the software has been discounted to just $1.99 in the App Store.

Selling regularly for $29.99, Pixelmator for Mac can now be downloaded for just $14.99, a steal given the app's rich set of powerful image editing features, tools, brushes and more.

Reeder 3 is out: Safari View Controller, 3D Touch, Split View multitasking, iPad Pro support & more

It feels like yesterday, but it's actually been more than two year since Reeder 2, the second major version of a popular RSS client for iOS and OS X by Italian developer Silvio Rizzi, was released in the App Store.

And while the Mac edition of Reeder was bumped to version 3.0 in September 2015, it left us wondering whether a major update to the iOS version might be in tow.

Well, today Reeder 3 hit the App Store and it's a free update for everyone who already owns the app. There's a lot to look forward to in Reeder 3, here's a quick overview of major new features.

These hacks enable custom Apple Watch faces and 3D Touch gestures on iPad Pro via Apple Pencil

watchOS 2, the operating system powering Apple's wearable gizmo, includes support for third-party complications on select watch faces designed to support them.

But as far as watch faces themselves go, users are limited to a handful of built-in styles as Apple's software development kit (SDK) doesn't allow for downloadable watch faces yet.

As it turns out, a quick hack that prolific iOS developer Hamza Sood posted on Twitter back in August (no, it didn't fly under our radar) gets around Apple's limitations and permits unofficial development and installation of custom faces for Apple's wearable device.

And earlier this morning, Sood also posted another hack which brings 3D Touch Peek and Pop gestures to the iPad Pro via the Apple Pencil's pressure sensing technology.

Vine rolls out Apple Watch app and new ways to discover and watch videos

Twitter-owned Vine, a short-form video sharing service, is now available on the Apple Watch with a native watchOS 2 app that streams best videos from Featured and Favorites sections to your wrist.

A Vine complication is available as well so you can track your account's loops and access the native app from your watch face. In addition to the Apple Watch app, this edition of Vine includes features that make it easier to make and discover audio remixes on the service and more.

Amazon Video for iOS gets X-Ray, 3D Touch and multitasking support & more

Amazon pushed a nice update to its video-streaming app in the App Store this morning. Amazon Video version 3.3 now includes 3D Touch shortcuts on the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus Home screen for quick access to the following features: Library, Downloads, your Watchlist and Search.

In addition, the app is now fully optimized for the iPad Pro and supports iOS 9's new Picture in Picture mode and Slide Over multitasking on supported devices.

iFixit gives Apple’s Smart Keyboard the lowest repairability score possible

Repair experts over at iFixit today pried open Apple's new $169 Smart Keyboard case for the iPad Pro.

As you know, the Smart Keyboard is covered in Apple's mysterious conductive fabric that actually connects the keyboard to the iPad Pro's Smart Connector and allows for a “two‑way flow of power and data.”

But more important than that, the accessory is completely glued together, which makes servicing next to impossible. In fact, the Smart Keyboard files as one of the least repairable devices iFixit has ever analyzed so small wonder they gave it a repairability score of zero out of ten, ten being the easiest to repair.

Microsoft updates OneDrive for iOS with 3D Touch shortcuts on Home screen

Windows maker Microsoft today updated its cloud-storage client for iOS, OneDrive, with a trio of new features.

For starters, iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus owners can now quickly access their most recently used files by pressing OneDrive's Home screen icon lightly to bring up a menu providing direct access to their recent files.

Additionally, scoped folder search for personal OneDrive accounts is now back by popular demand and business users will appreciate support for Microsoft's Intone mobile app management service.

Viber for iPhone now lets you recall sent chats, attach files, reply from notifications and more

Viber today pushed a couple notable improvements to its iOS messaging app in the App Store. Bumped to version 5.6.5, Viber for iPhone now makes it easy to delete a sent message for everyone, not just for yourself, which could come in handy after accidentally sending a message to the wrong person, allowing you to recall it immediately.

You can now send media directly from your shared iCloud albums, in addition to your Camera roll like before.

As a bonus, Viber now includes the ability to reply to messages directly from the notification banner and permits you to search your Viber chats and contacts from the Home screen, using iOS 9's much improved Spotlight Search function.

Review: collect resources, terraform new worlds and survive in space in Last Horizon

As an avid stargazer who's been dreaming about space travel for ages and a sucker for minimalist games, Last Horizon immediately piqued my interest.

In fact, Last Horizon was an instant purchase for me and I never regretted dropping $2.99 on this space survival and exploration title from Pixeljam. Last Horizon puts you in the shoes of a pilot of a lone spacecraft.

Your oxygen and fuel supplies are limited and your goal is a simple one: you must travel the space and seek out new worlds to inhabit. You're going to encounter a range of varied planets along the way and harvest their resources.

Some planets hold terraforming resources you need to create a beautiful, harmonious new planet for yourself. Others only provide oxygen and ore to repair your ship.
