How to install Kodi on iOS 9 without jailbreaking

Kodi is one of those apps that I love using on my jailbroken devices, but did you know that it can also be easily installed and used on a non-jailbroken device? I just finished installing Kodi on my iPad Pro in a matter of minutes. Although it's not as straightforward as installing it from Cydia, it can still easily be done with a bit of patience.

I use Kodi to stream live local channels to my iOS devices via an HDHomeRun box, but I also use it to stream video from an external drive hooked up to my AirPort extreme. Needless to say, it's a great app that's not just limited to jailbroken device thanks to Xcode 7.

Splitify: use Split View on all jailbroken iOS 9 devices

Splitify is a recently released jailbreak tweak that allows you to use iOS 9's Split View—a multitasking feature that's exclusive to the latest iPad models—on any jailbroken iOS 9 device. That means that, yes, as long as you're jailbroken on iOS 9, you can use Split View on your iPad Air, iPhone 6s, iPhone 5s, or other device.

How to enable the iPhone 6s’ keyboard trackpad mode on older jailbroken iPhones

If you have an older jailbroken iPhone like the iPhone 6 or iPhone 5s, then you're missing out on one of the best features made possible by 3D Touch featured on the iPhone 6s. Thanks to 3D Touch, the iPhone 6s' keyboard trackpad mode allows users to swipe on the keyboard to position the cursor accurately when typing or editing text.

The good news is that a newly release jailbreak tweak, found on up-and-coming developer collective Creatix's beta repo, brings some of the keyboard trackpad features to older devices.

How to access iOS 9’s Picture in Picture mode for YouTube videos

Google is seriously lagging when it comes to updating its YouTube app with all the latest iOS 9 and iPad Pro features. For example, there's no support for Split View side by side multitasking, and the app lacks optimization for the iPad Pro's extra large screen. But what I find to be most egregious, is the lack of support for Picture in Picture mode.

For an app like YouTube, which is solely centered around watching videos, it's frustrating that the app doesn't yet have support for the handy multitasking feature.

But there is a way to get Picture in Picture mode for YouTube videos, if you're willing to use a third-party app. Once such app, entitled YouPlayer, does a very good job of presenting YouTube videos with many of the popular iOS 9 and iPad Pro niceties.

7 tips to get rid of junk files and recover storage space on iPhone

There's nothing worse than pulling an iPhone out of your pocket to capture that brief moment in life that will never repeat itself only to be met with a “storage almost full” message.

It's a sinking feeling so no wonder that most folks tend to immediately remove older photos.

But there are better ways to free up storage space on your device that don't necessarily involve deleting your precious memories. Faced with a low-storage prompt, your first order of business should be checking if apps you frequently use are gobbling up your storage by caching large amounts of data.

That's just the starters, as there're plenty of other space-saving techniques you should be employing on a regular basis. In this tutorial, you'll learn how to manually flush app caches, disable certain iOS features and flip the switches you never knew existed in order to remove as much of the cruft clogging up your iOS device as possible.

iOS 9 adoption rate hits 67 percent mark

Two weeks after hitting precisely two-thirds of active iPhone, iPod touch and iPad devices in the wild, Apple's latest iOS 9 mobile operating system is now powering 67 percent of iOS hardware.

The data comes via Apple's dashboard for developers and is derived from App Store access logs on Tuesday, November 16, 2015. iOS 8 continues to comprise just shy of one-quarter of active iOS devices in use, while earlier iOS editions collectively account for nine percent of iOS devices being actively used.

Springtomize 3 has been updated for iOS 9 and is launching soon

The tweak that many of you have been waiting for is almost here. Springtomize 3, the legendary jailbreak tweak originally from Filippo Bigarella, is right around the corner for iOS 9. Earlier today, a copy of the tweak landed in my inbox, and I've been testing it out throughout the day and into this evening.

In case you're not familiar with Springtomize, it's a tweak that essentially allows you to customize a wide variety of SpringBoard attributes. You can change the size of app icons, change the look of the dock, hide icon labels, and adjust animation speeds. And that's just the tip of the iceberg.

f.lux developers pull the plug on the ability to sideload the app on iOS after being contacted by Apple

The developers of f.lux pulled their iOS app from their website in Thursday, no longer allowing people to sideload it. According to the developers, Apple informed them that because f.lux was using private APIs, it was in violation of the Developer Program Agreement. While other apps have been able to be sideloaded with no issue, including emulators and other products, f.lux is now gone as developers complied with Apple's request.
