How to sideload f.lux on your iPhone or iPad with Xcode 7

The folks over at f.lux have released a sideloadable version of their popular utility for all iOS devices running iOS 9. The utility, which was once limited to jailbroken iPhones, can now be installed on any iOS 9 device, even the new iPad Pro, without a jailbreak.

f.lux is a utility that allows your iPhone to automatically adjust the screen temperature according to the time of day. It's a utility that I use every day on my Mac, and it makes working on my computer in a dark environment much easier on my eyes. The same premise applies to iOS devices as well.

iOS 9.2 to bring Arabic support for Siri

According to a new report by 9to5Mac, Apple’s upcoming iOS 9.2 software update will enable support for Arabic in Siri.

With last year’s iOS 8 update, Apple has paved the way for Siri in Arabic with Arabic support for iOS’s Dictation and QuickType keyboard features.

The full support for Arabic will allow local users not only to converse with Siri in Arabic but search for local places and businesses and more.

Some users are complaining about Touch ID issues after updating to iOS 9.1

iOS 9 is now powering two-thirds of Apple’s mobile devices in the wild

Apple's iOS 9 mobile operating system is now installed on two out of each three iPhone, iPod touch and iPad devices in the wild just a little over a month and a half following its September 16, 2015 release.

According to the official stats available through the company's App Store dashboard for developers, iOS 9 is now powering 66 percent of Apple's mobile devices in active use versus the adoption rate of 61 percent recorded just two weeks ago.

The million dollar jailbreak you can’t have

Vulnerability and exploit acquisition platform Zerodium announced today that the million dollar bounty it had put together has expired, noting that a team of researchers has won the prize. Launched in September of this year, the bounty program aimed at rewarding anyone one who would come forward with an "exclusive, browser-based, and untethered jailbreak for the latest Apple iOS 9 operating system and devices."

It looks like they have their winners, as a team who made a remote browser-based iOS 9.1 and iOS 9.2 beta untethered jailbreak has apparently come forward. But don't get your hopes too high.

Pegasus: a tweak that brings Picture in Picture mode to all iOS 9 devices

The iPad has a leg up on other devices in the iOS family, because later model versions can take advantage of iOS 9's new Picture in Picture mode for video multitasking. Picture in Picture mode lets you watch videos or conduct FaceTime calls in a smaller window while using other apps at the same time.

Unfortunately, for those of you on iPads that predate the iPad Air, along with iPhone and iPod touch users, Picture in Picture mode is not available. That's unless you decide to jailbreak and install Pegasus, a tweak by developer Evan Swick. Pegasus is a new jailbreak tweak that enables Picture in Picture mode on previously unsupported devices. New in iOS 9.2 beta: a look at Safari View Controller updates

Yesterday, Apple released iOS 9.2 beta 1 to developers. As we explained, the update ushered in a couple of new features to iOS 9's Safari View Controller.

In iOS 9.2 beta 1, Safari View Controller gets a bit more powerful. It now has the ability to request a desktop site directly from the view controller, disable content blockers, and it can interface with Action Extensions, such as the 1Password extension.

In the video that follows, I showcase both new features, and compare them with an older version of iOS 9.

Tutorial: how to jailbreak iOS 9 on Mac

About two weeks after releasing the first version of their jailbreak tool for iOS exclusively for Windows, the Pangu Team has now released its utility for the Mac. The process is roughly the same between both platforms, but for the sake of completeness, we are going to post instructions on how to jailbreak iOS 9 with Pangu for Mac.

Pangu for Mac can only be used to jailbreak all iOS 9-compatible devices running iOS 9, iOs 9.0.1, and iOS 9.0.2. The latest version of Pangu can also jailbreak 64-bit devices running iOS 9.1.
