Apple has tonight begun airing its first new commercial in nearly a month. As you'd imagine in mid-December, the spot carries a holiday theme and focuses on the new iPhone 5s handset and its AirPlay feature.

The ad shows a teenage boy capturing his family participating in various holiday activities like decorating the Christmas tree and playing in the snow on his iPhone 5s, and then playing it for them on their TV set...

Now, we're no strangers to Microsoft's anti-Apple marketing antics. Whether it be Surface against iPad or Windows Phone against iPhone, the company has made it very clear that they are gunning for Tim Cook and his team out there in Cupertino.

And up until now, the effectiveness of Microsoft's ads have been questionable at best—it's tough to proclaim your product is better than another when sales and reviews suggest the opposite. But these new commercials have to be the worst yet...

Microsoft now takes swipes at iPad mini

Wow, there's just no stopping Microsoft's marketing people in their anti-iPad crusade. As it’s done several times this summer, the Windows giant yesterday posted a Surface commercial which predictably takes swipes at Apple's full-size iPad, criticizing its $499 asking price, lack of SD card slot and limited Office compatibility (go figure).

You'd have think Microsoft's ad agency would not release another iPad bashing commercial until next week. Much to our surprise, however, a mere 24 hours later a new commercial has surfaced on YouTube, this time on Microsoft's WindowsVideos channel.
