WhatsApp Web Interface

Android users have been able to enjoy WhatsApp’s Web interface for a while now, while iOS users have been left longing for the feature. The WhatsApp Web interface allows you to carry on and continue conversations from a web browser on your desktop, which is great for those times when you’re seated and working.

Thankfully, there is a way to enable the WhatsApp Web feature directly from your iPhone, but you’ll need to be jailbroken to do so. It’s called WhatsApp Web Enabler, and we’ll show you how to use it in this step-by-step video tutorial.

Note: You must be jailbroken in order to follow this tutorial

Step 1: Make sure you have WhatsApp installed on your iPhone

Step 2: Open Cydia and search for WhatsApp Web Enabler and install it

Step 3: Open the Settings app and find WhatsApp Web Enabler’s preferences, and enable the tweak

Step 4: Force close WhatsApp and reopen it

Step 5: Tap on the Settings tab and tap WhatsApp Web then tap OK. Got it.

Step 6: On your desktop go to web.whatsapp.com in your web browser (Chrome, FireFox, or Opera. Safari is not supported)

Step 7: Aim your phone at the QR code on your desktop’s browser, and you should be automatically signed in to the WhatsApp Web interface

Be sure to watch our video walkthrough of the entire process above. It only take a few minutes to gain access to the web interface from the iPhone, and it’s totally worth doing if you’re jailbroken.

Have you been using WhatsApp’s web interface? If so, what do you think about it thus far?

  • Newgunnerr

I don’t understand why whatsapp doesn’t just make software for whatsapp on PC and mac, like iMessage has on mac… This QR shit is bullshit who wants that?

So many users and facebook has so much money, yet no desktop version, pathethic.

And where is that calling feature? They promised us they would release it Q3 2014

    • afra33

agree. they also need to quit making whatsapp such a control freak app and offer always showing you online optional to people who do not want to display their status and get rid of read receipts or make them optional. and where is that video calling?

    • Wowzera

Because the messages aren’t stored in cloud, but in the device itself.
Telegram, for example, is based in cloud, so all your messages are sync’ed between all your devices.

      • Newgunnerr

So? They can make that happen. whatsapp also works with iCloud

      • Wowzera

Yes, it works with iCloud, but for backup purposes.
The messages of Whatsapp aren’t sync’ed over the cloud, like they are with Telegram (as an example).

      • Jason Mak

Tell me why then SMS message on iphone can be synced to mac. tell me why we can use mac to answer phone calls. Tell me WHY that jailbroken tweak can just simply use that function without fiddling with any other functions on phone? This is clear that it is whatsapp who doesn’t want it to be on iOS in stead of iOS not capable of doing that. They just want to partner with google and try to eliminate apple.

  • Adan

Doesn’t work for me. When I scan the QR code whatsapp closes down. Help, please.

    • Are you running the beta version of WhatsApp? I think this only works with stock.

      • Adan

Yes, I got the latest beta 🙁

      • Adham Meki

Jeff you didn’t mention that it’s recommended to install Insomina tweak!

      • Guilherme

I am running beta and it does crash after scanning.

      • ahmed ecchennaoui

    • ahmed ecchennaoui

i am running beta and When I scan the QR code whatsapp closes down

  • Eni

    • VitoM

      • Eni

        Ur sis

      • VitoM

        Anyone else?…

      • Eni

I didn’t want to be rude dude but u asked for it

  • gaucho

great for those who like WhatsApp, I honestly am not a fan of this application but I can not do without for work reasons

    • Stemro

It indeed is not the best messaging app, however it is the most practical for me since everyone I know uses it.

      • gaucho

use it only at work, because many customers use and cannot be left out because it would lose money lol

  • diggitydang

Works for me, but when phone is asleep and notification comes in, you have to actually unlock the phone for the messages to show up on the web version. It loses it’s effectiveness because you need to unlock the phone first, then start using the web version after that which defeats much of the purpose.

    • yeah webchat is a false statement, it’s more like turning your computer into a wireless keyboard for your iPhone…

  • jeffrey

I managed to connect and exchange messages without a problem but after a couple of minutes my phone goes into safe mode for no reason while being locked =. Anyone else experiencing this?

  • Guilherme Henrique Luchesi

    Sooooo nice :DDD
    Thank you man!!

  • Ivo

    Great news!
Unfortunatley it does not work for me on the iphone 4s 7.0.4, with whatsapp 2.11.16 installed. The settings screen crashes when I try to open it, and Whatsapp also crashes with this tweak installed.

    • Odra

I have the same issue with my iPhone 5 running 7.0.4 with 2.11.16 installed. Anyone have overcome this issue?

  • Ahasan Habib

    Great news!
Unfortunatley it does not work for me on the iphone 5 iOS 7.0.4, with whatsapp 2.12.1 installed. The settings screen crashes when I try to open it, and Whatsapp also crashes with this tweak installed. can anyone help me plzzzz?

  • This is crazy! Who’s gonna jailbreak just to use the Whatsapp on mac. The developer has to build the iOS friendly app and upgrade it. It’s as simple as that.

  • Diadal Barbara

att–iphoneunlocking is able to unlock your AT&T phones in totally no time. Their facebook is also great!!
