5 must have jailbreak tweaks

Once the iOS 6 jailbreak is released, there are a few tweaks that you absolutely must download. Thankfully, Cydia will be better equipped to handle the barrage of users so that you will be able to download all of your favorite apps and tweaks with little issue.

While we wait, why not consider a few of my must-have jailbreak tweaks for iOS 6? Post jailbreak, we’ll follow up with more recommended apps and tweaks, but we think this list would be enough to wet your appetite…

Siri has become almost unbearable to use in all but the most basic situations. Maybe I’m just that hard to understand, but it seems like she gets things right about 10% of the time. The voice search embedded within Google’s search app is infinitely more accurate and expeditious than Siri. Although it can’t perform integrated operating system functions like Siri can, it’s still my go to app for doing voice searches.

NowNow is a jailbreak tweak that allows you to assign Google voice search to an Activator gesture. This means that instead of holding the Home button and launching Siri, you can hold the Home button and launch Google voice search instead.

For a similar tweak with a few additional options, be sure to have a look at ActiVoice as well.

Personally, this is probably reason #1 as to why I’m looking forward to jailbreaking my iPhone 5. Auxo looked great on the iPhone 4S, but it’s one of the first tweaks that was actually designed with the iPhone 5’s larger screen in mind.

Its recent update added features like VIP apps, new toggles, and native Activator gesture support. Put it this way, I’ve tested hundreds upon hundreds of tweaks over the years, but this is one of the few that really stands heads-and-shoulders above the rest. An absolute must have, especially for the iPhone 5’s larger screen. Also, look out for an iPad version soon.

Some people still can’t understand my infatuation with AssistantLove, but that’s probably because they’ve never used it. One of the primary features of AssistantLove is the ability to control music from Spotify using Siri, just like you would with the stock Music app. This means that you have a virtually unlimited supply of music that you can control using only your voice.

When you consider that the iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch all support Siri, you can see why AssistantLove has the potential to appeal to the masses. Don’t miss it.

IntelliScreen X

Even though it’s old news now, it would be an outright crime to leave IntelliScreen X off of any must-download list. If you’ve been around for a while, then you know what IntelliScreen X is all about. For those of you who are new, or those of you who are forgetful, let me provide a friendly reminder.

Put simply, IntelliScreen X is the way that Notification Center should be. It allows you to read your Twitter Timeline, Facebook wall, and post new tweets and status updates as well. It allows you to quickly read and respond to SMS messages, Email, and view your favorite RSS feeds. Keep in mind that all of this happens from the convenience of Notification Center. In fact, I believe the SMS integration is alone worth the price of admission.

Of course, there are more features to talk about regarding IntelliScreen X, but I suggest you just look at the video walkthrough above.

The is arguably the one “power user” jailbreak app to make this list. If you’re familiar with Finder on the Mac, or Explorer on Windows, then you pretty much know what to expect with iFile. iFile allows you to explore, create, and modify at will, anything within iOS’ root file structure. It’s an extremely powerful app that’s essentially a staple for any long time jailbreaker.

iFile also allows you to install packages without having to know terminal commands. You can alter plist files, and transfer files via a web server or via Bluetooth. If there’s absolutely one tweak that I could not under any circumstances live without, it would definitely be iFile.

Very honorable mention

Springtomize 2

Dashboard X

Keep in mind, that some of these tweaks and apps may not be immediately compatible with iOS 6. At this moment, many developers are scrambling to update their packages, but there’s no guarantee that every single item listed below will be ready on launch day.

  • Bite SMS,I file, springtomize, lock info, sb settings, pro tube, safari downloader

  • Auxo Question:

I am an SBSettings fan because it has the ability to clear RAM, Poof, and work with Activator disabled. I hate Activator – it uses way too much RAM. Will Auxo work with Activator disabled? Does it clear RAM? I really want to purchase this tweak… but if it doesn’t completely replace SBSettings, then I can’t do it. thanx for the responses guys.

  • Auxo? No, I recommend Missionboard Pro, bigger Scrennshots are better and it’s way faster

Intelliscreen X? No, for stability reasons use Lockinfo, Intelliscreen crashes to often

    • mission board is cool but too intrusive.. lockinfo does not look a native as intelliscreen..

  • Evad3 my iDevice. 😀

  • Once my contract done am going to get Samsung galaxy 4

  • SwipeSelection is a must have!

  • Auxo and Zephyr all the way!

  • Got to have Quasar on the iPad, the multi tasking, multiple resize able windows are a must..

    • quasar is still glitchy as hell… scrolling is jittery… you cant play multiple video and audio sources at same time and it messes up your streaming to apple tv functions on the ipad

  • Does Auxo work on iPad?

    • Tom

No. There is an iPad version on the way.

  • Rishab Jaswal

evasi0n site now shows 75% check it out

    • tggt00

I just wanted to say that!!! XD
iDownloadblog is probably the only website that posts about every percentage on the evasi0n website.. XD

  • Top 5:
biteSMS – Hate unlocking to manage extremely short messages.
Swipe Selection – Is such a time saver
Zephyr – No more future broken home button!
Auxo – Are you kidding me! This tweak is awesome.
Pandora Downloader – ad managing is great too
MyWi – LTE here I go!
My3G – FaceTime on the go.
IntelliScreen X – (I think I’ll trade this one for the Pandora one)
    iFile – Just because.
    NCSettings – looks fast
Who I’m I fooling, I’m doing this list for myself as a reminder.

    • Mr. Dumb

      + ‘Camera Tweak’ and ‘Activator’

  • Tom

I was thinking about which jailbreak apps and tweaks I was going to install on my iPhone 5 on Sunday and I think this might be the only time I will have been jailbroken and I won’t have SBSettings on my device. I will have IntelliScreenX for toggling stuff like Airplane mode, Bluetooth, etc. I will also have Auxo which will do a load of that stuff to. The only reason I can see to have SBSettings now would be to hide the Messaging icon (I will be using Bite SMS) and possibly Mail (I may use Sparrow with Sparrow+).

    Am I forgetting anything?

    • Tyler Miranda

You can hide the messages icon with bitesms. Look in the more settings section.

  • FrankensteinBlack

    And for the security/privacy conscious:
    1. Firewall-IP – (BUY don’t Pirate!)
    2. Ad-Blocker – (BUY don’t Pirate!)
    3. PMP (Protect my Privacy)
    4. iBlacklist
    5. Contact Privacy
    6. Apps Using Location

Because even “legitimate” App store apps shouldn’t be allowed to scan your; Device-ID, location, contacts, photos, sms, email, calendar, music collection, and sell the info to 3rd parties unless you allow!

They have been doing it for years on stock iOS and its getting worse. So don’t be a “suckled sucker” BUY (don’t pirate) the apps above most of which are free, and watch what happens when you launch an app store app. Mind will be blown! Sayin…

  • David Villamizar

    Auxo over Zephyr? really?

  • I_dont_know

really, I think ActiVoice is better than nownow, activoice gets rid of the google logo on launch

  • Just wanna ask……Is every Cydia tweaks for iPhone 4S or below ready for iPhone 5?

  • Iphoney

Losing sky go to have a jailbreak makes it all not worth doing

  • Christophe

Let’s not forget that when we add tweaks on an iPhone, it becomes very slow

  • Accelerate?

  • 1) BiteSMS
    2) NCSettings
    3) iFile
    4) MewSeek
    5) iTransmission

  • Mark

what tweaks are optimized for iphone 5

  • Thejaswi Kadur

with intelliscreenx, you also get messages+, which is a nice replacement for biteSMS.

  • Eldaria

Hmm, this article about 5 must have JB tewaks for iOS 6 lists AssistantLove, I just tried to install it, and it tells me it requires iOS5.

  • Anna Harris

“Auxo” is for iOS 6 only, or is it compatible with othet ios also?

  • Works perfect on iphone 5

  • How did you get AssistantLove to work it says its unsupported on iOS 6.1 and fails when I try

  • Chuck Finley

Screw all these tweaks, just give me Gridlock back!

  • samp1800

siri is better than google now

  • I purchased Auxo on my 4S. I love it, but it crashes every other time I double tap the home button! And it’s slow pulling up. I had to uninstall it. Very disappointed, I really love how it works. 🙁 Anything I can do to make it work?

  • Oh boy I am in veritable geek nirvana, jailbreaking has set me free!

  • haresth

some of the apps need to buy.. how can i download it with free.. or we still need to buy all of this stuff.. 🙁

  • what’s my best way of finding a bad tweak that is causing my iphone 4s 6.1.2 to fail to answer incoming calls?

    • its probably a tweak thats handling some gui as in user interface tweaks, if i were to tell, id say just uninstall any tweak that doesn’t specifically says in cydia’s tweak description: “this program is officially supported” or something like that. i think theres a way to read the safe mode report, but im not sure
