Photego: secure the stock Photos app with Touch ID

There are tweaks that exist on Cydia that allow you to secure an entire app, but to my knowledge, no tweak yet exists that allows you to secure specific aspects of the stock Photos app with Touch ID. That's where Photego comes in, a new jailbreak tweak that allows you to prevent users from deleting photos, accessing albums, and more via Touch ID.

WhitelistSwitcher cleans up your messy App Switcher

Looking for a way to tidy up the App Switcher on iOS? Then WhitelistSwitcher may be a jailbreak tweak that appeals to you. As its name alludes to, this tweak allows you to whitelist the specific apps that appear in the App Switcher. Apps that aren't on the whitelist do not appear in the App Switcher, even if they were recently launched.

Burstio turns your burst photos into videos or animated GIFs

Bustio is a new app released in the App Store that will turn your burst photos into animated GIFs or videos, which you can then save to your Camera Roll or share with others via several channels.

The concept is pretty simple. After taking a series of photos in burst mode with your iPhone camera, simply launch Burstio, and select the burst of photos you want to use. From there you have the option to adjust the playback speed from slow, to normal, to fast. Then hit the export button to convert the burst photos into an HD video or an animated GIF.

Upcoming ‘AppButton’ tweak brings a unique app switching method to iOS

I love jailbreaking for many reasons, but one of the primary reasons is that it allows developers to bring unique ideas to fruition. One such idea is AppButton, a new jailbreak tweak that places a very different twist on the concept of app switching. AppButton is not available on the default Cydia repos yet, and is still in Alpha stages. Even so, it's a tweak that shows tons of potential and promise.

Facebook acquiring web video startup QuickFire Networks

Facebook is purchasing the San Diego, California-based web video startup QuickFire Networks for an undisclosed amount. The company announced the acquisition on its website today, saying that "key members" of its team will be joining the social networking giant as it "winds down operations."

QuickFire is known for its propriety software tech that significantly reduces the bandwidth needed to view video online without degrading its quality. The startup will help Facebook build an infrastructure capable of supporting the massive influx of video consumption it's currently experiencing.

Following its iOS and OS X debut in April 2013 and January 2014, respectively, Mail Pilot, a powerful task-focused email application by Mindsense, is about to get a whole lot better and prettier.

Photo Organizer 8 adds power-user features to the stock Photos app

Let's face it; the stock Photos app in iOS 8 is severely lacking when it comes to power user features. Just to name one example, there's no way to select a range of photos. Instead, you have to tap on each photo that you wish to select one by one. That's really just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the lack of power-user features in the stock Photos app. Fortunately for jailbreakers, Photo Organizer 8 solves many of the stock app's shortcomings.

New SideBySide jailbreak tweak concept brings true multitasking to iOS

Hamza Sood, a well-known and well-respected iOS developer, is mulling over the possibility of creating a new iOS jailbreak tweak for true multitasking. Dubbed SideBySide, the tweak would bring true side-by-side simultaneous multitasking to iPads and iPhone, and would use Activator gestures as a means of invocation.

After seeing the progress and popularity of ReachApp, Sood is having second thoughts about proceeding with development of SideBySide. I think that would be a mistake, because SideBySide looks different enough from ReachApp to be extremely compelling in its own right.

Nuntius brings native iOS 8 quick reply to WhatsApp

One of the best things about using the Messages app in iOS 8 is the quick reply interface. Sadly, third party apps don't have access to the quick reply API, so they are limited in this regard. Wouldn't it be nice if one of your favorite messaging apps got access to real native iOS 8 quick reply? That's the exact premise behind Nuntius, a brand new jailbreak tweak that brings true native iOS 8 quick reply to WhatsApp.

No, it's not Display Recorder, it's TouchPosé+. Folks, this is one of my go-to tweaks, and one of the secrets behind my videos, and it's now absolutely free of charge and officially compatible with iOS 8.
