Reachability

New upcoming WidgetCenter tweak brings widgets to Reachability view

Reachability has been all of the rage for jailbreak app developers as of late, and why not? It's one of the big features for the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, and it's an obvious area that can be exploited to provided extra functionality. ReachApp—a tweak that's still in beta—is a good example of a tweak that takes good advantage of Reachability, and now another upcoming jailbreak tweak is in the works that will breathe new life into Reachability as well.

WidgetCenter is an upcoming release that allows users to access widgets directly from Reachability view. This dynamically adjusting tweak provides impressive functionality, animations, and loads of future potential expandability. Developer Mitch Treece has provided iDownloadBlog with a first look at his upcoming creation, and of course, we've created a hands-on video to show it off to you.

ReachApp continues to improve on its impressive true multitasking initiative

ReachApp continues to impress by bringing a true side-by-side multitasking experience to iOS. Although there's no indication as to when the tweak will leave beta, it's been receiving steady updates over the last few weeks, and continues to improve stability-wise and functionality-wise.

ReachApp is definitely shaping up to be firmly in the running for jailbreak tweak of 2015. Check out some of the details from the last few updates and see why.

Split screen multitasking tweak ‘ReachApp’ gets an app selector in big update

If you're running the ReachApp beta—the jailbreak tweak that brings true split-screen multitasking to iOS—you likely noticed the update that just recently hit Cydia. The update adds a lot of new switches to the tweak's preferences, and fleshes out the description of each switch.

With ReachApp 0.1, you'll find the ability to view the Notification Center in split-screen view, enable a much-requested app selector (yes!) and more. Check out our new video walkthrough, which highlights many of the new features in this highly anticipated update.

How to put the App Switcher in Reachability view

Switchability is yet the latest jailbreak tweak to incorporate the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus' Reachability view with a jailbreak modification. In this case, Switchability places the App Switcher into Reachability view, hence the name Switchability. I've been testing out the tweak for a while, and what I've found was a great concept, but its execution needs a little work before it's truly ready for primetime.

ReachApp will bring true split-screen multitasking to iOS 8

Reachability continues to be a feature of focus for jailbreak developers, but I have to say that this latest upcoming jailbreak tweak takes the cake. ReachApp is an in-development jailbreak tweak that brings true split-screen multitasking to iOS 8 by means of Reachability. That means that yes, you can view two apps at the same time, and interact with both apps! Watch our video to see how it works in action.

How to add Nyan Cat to Reachability view

It seems like at least once every jailbreak generation a jailbreak tweak arrives to add the Nyan Cat to iOS. This time around, the Nyan Cat is added to iOS 8's Reachability view. Appropriately entitled ReachTheNyanCat, this free jailbreak tweak is a good way to spice up Reachability on your iPhone.

ReachWeather: view current weather conditions when invoking Reachability

Do you ever wish that you could use the blank space that appears when invoking Reachability on the iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus? The developer of ReachWeather apparently did, and so he did something about it. ReachWeather is a new jailbreak tweak that uses the available Reachability real estate to place something useful there—current weather conditions for a predetermined location.

How to change the iPhone 6 Reachability background color

ColorReachability is a recently released jailbreak tweak that allows iPhone 6 users to switch up the color of their Reachablity background. Reachability, as you've no doubt heard, allows users of large screen devices like the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus to shift down the iOS interface so that it can be efficiently used with one hand. If you find Reachability's look to be too boring and pedestrian, ColorReachability can go a long way towards changing that.

Switchability: an upcoming tweak that combines Reachability, the App Switcher, and Safari’s 3D tab view

A new upcoming jailbreak tweak promises to combine multiple iOS features into a cool new app switching interface called Switchability. The tweak, which is previewed inside on video, combines the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus' Reachability mode along with the App Switcher and Safari's 3D tab view. The result of such a combination may seem like it would be a mess, but after seeing it demonstrated in the preview video, I think it might just work.
