Creators of Bastion release Transistor for iOS, a premium sci-fi action RPG like no other

Every once in a while, a high-quality role-playing game which appeals to the masses comes along. This time around, the name of such a game is Transistor, a premium science fiction action RPG for the iPhone and iPad created by Supergiant Games, the team behind Bastion.

Featuring the vibrant presentation and deep combat system it's known for, Transistor utilizes an isometric point of view where you control the character Red as she travels through a series of locations, battling enemies in both real-time combat and a frozen turn-based planning mode.

For those wondering, Rovio Mobile isn't done with its Angry Birds franchise yet. Quite the contrary, the Espoo, Finland headquartered developer, publisher and distributor of video games is now known as Rovio Entertainment Ltd. to reflect its broadened scope on entertainment in general.

Thursday, Rovio added another Angry Birds game to its roster. Called Angry Birds Fight! and releasing worldwide today following a recent soft-launch in Japan, it's basically a match-3 frenzy that challenges you to join some pretty crazy real-time battles of strategic, bird swapping agility with other players.

iOS 9 includes support for Continuity over cellular

Soon, it looks like your iPhone won't need Wi-Fi to use Apple's awesome Continuity feature. As noted by the Verge, the iOS 9 beta seeded to developers earlier this week includes support for the feature over a cellular connection.

For those not familiar with it, Continuity was introduced in iOS 8 and it allows you to answer calls and messages on your Mac or iPad as long as they are on the same network as your iPhone. In iOS 9, that's no longer a requirement.

Flaw in Mail for iPhone and iPad can be used to hijack your iCloud password

A serious bug in Apple's stock Mail application for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad permits attackers to fool users into providing their iCloud credentials.

Such phishing attacks can be devastating as iCloud increasingly becomes home for our digital life in the Apple universe, including our photo libraries, notes, contacts and other personal data.

The scam takes advantage of an exploit in the Mail application that makes it easy to deliver convincing-looking pop-ups resembling iCloud password prompts through a simple email message, The Register reported Wednesday.

While such emails look like they're coming from a real company, they're spoofed and once an unsuspecting user opens them on their iPhone, iPod touch or iPad running iOS 8.3, the operating system will execute malicious HTML content embedded inside.

New iOS 9 features Apple didn’t mention today

During Apple's WWDC keynote this morning, it offered up a preview of iOS 9. It discussed a number of major new features in the upcoming OS update, including a smarter Siri, improved Maps and better battery life.

But as usual, there are a number of new features in iOS 9 that Apple didn't really talk about today. The slide you see above gives you an idea of what some of those features might be.

The big keyboard refinements in iOS 9

During its WWDC presentation today, Apple introduced several new enhancements for its keyboard in iOS on iPhone and iPad. These changes include a redesigned shift key for distinguishing capital letters, lowercase, and caps lock. Additionally, key lettering now switches between upper and lowercase depending on which variation of a letter will be typed, which is another tool Apple is using to more clearly define what letter case mode the shift key is in, and adds ShowCase to the list of jailbreak tweaks Apple has turned into stock features with iOS 9.

iOS 9 includes a standalone iCloud Drive app

Since Apple's WWDC keynote ended a few hours ago, we've installed the iOS 9 beta and begun digging for new stuff. Apple previewed a handful of the software's features at the event, but as usual, there are a number of additions and improvements it didn't talk about.

One of those features is a standalone iCloud Drive app. It's not immediately apparent, but while launching an app we received a pop-up asking us if we wanted to install it. We were also able to access it via the Settings app iCloud > iCloud Drive > Show on Home Screen.

A new multitasking experience comes to iPad in iOS 9

True multitasking is now a reality on the iPad! With iOS 9, you can view two apps at the same time and interact with them using multitouch at the same time.

You can also adjust the Split View between the two apps on the fly, and access additional apps by means of a brand new App Switcher. You'll even be able to watch videos via a brand new Picture in Picture mode.

Needless to say, iOS 9 looks like a complete game changer for the iPad. It will certainly make it more of a productivity machine thanks to the new multitasking ability.

iOS 9 brings productivity improvements to QuickType typing on iPads

Apple has said that people using iOS 9 on their iPads will be more productive thanks to an improved QuickType virtual keyboard. The suggestion bar introduced in iOS 8 now has all-new handy shortcuts to format your content, move between apps quickly, position the cursor and even multitask like a pro with an OS X-style task switcher translucent UI with active app icons.

IGN names ‘Trivia Crack (Ad Free)’ its Free Game of the Month

IGN has named the ad-free version of the popular social trivia game 'Trivia Crack' its Free Game of the Month for June. This means that you can snag the premium title, which typically sells for $2.99, for free for both your iPhone and iPad.

For those of you who haven't played it, Trivia Crack it's a 1-on-1 trivia game that you can play wither either friends or total strangers. Questions are submitted by users, and grouped into 6 categories. First player to make it through all 6 wins.

Developers of Camera+ launch new app ‘Vee for Video’

Camera+ developers Lisa Bettany, Scott Meinzer and Karl von Randow today announced a new app called 'Vee for Video.' It essentially hopes to accomplish what the popular Camera+ app has for photos on iPhone, for videos.

Bettany tells BGR that Vee was born out of the team's desire for an app that let you shoot, edit and share videos seamlessly. They considered adding video to Camera+ at one point, but ultimately decided to build a standalone app.

SwiftKey Keyboard updated with new Emoji, stability improvements to reduce crashes

SwiftKey Keyboard, my favorite third-party keyboard for iOS 8, was updated today, bringing it to version 1.3.3. The new release includes skin tone options for Emoji, several new Emoji offerings in categories like Flags and Family, and various improvements.

While improvements are nice, they typically aren't anything to get excited about. SwiftKey, however, says that 1.3.3 features "a number of stability improvements to reduce crashes." Given how crash-prone third-party keyboards are in the first place, this is huge.
