Hot off the heels of a heated DMCA battle between the Electra Team and the unc0ver Team Tuesday evening, the unc0ver jailbreak has received its first update in nearly a month, officially bringing the jailbreak tool up to version 5.2.1.
The update was announced via the unc0ver Team’s official Twitter account early Wednesday morning, and from what we can gather, it mostly appears to be a bug fix update.
It was only a couple of weeks ago that CoolStar began teasing the imminent release of the upcoming Odyssey jailbreak for iOS 13 (previously referred to as Chimera13). The jailbreak still hasn’t been released at the time of this writing, but things appear to be falling into place rather quickly, and it’s attracting a lot of attention.
A brand-new Twitter account was created for the Odyssey jailbreak Monday afternoon, and that very same account began Tweeting a bevy of useful information regarding the devices that Odyssey would support out of the box and the features that the jailbreak would provide for its users.
A lot of the focus this past week has been on Apple’s WWDC 2020 keynote in which the Cupertino-based company unveiled the latest and greatest operating systems for its line of devices including iPhones and iPads, Apple Watches, Apple TVs, and Macs, among other things. But one of the things that got overshadowed amid all the excitement was a parallel address centric to the jailbreak community known as WWTC 2020.
WWTC stands for Worldwide Tweaks Conference, and it’s fundamentally a live-streamed presentation akin to Apple’s WWDC in which jailbreak developers take the stage to discuss some of their creations rather than Apple’s executive staff taking the stage to discuss the company’s latest and upcoming software.
It was only a couple of days ago that Apple unveiled iOS and iPadOS 14 during the company’s WWDC 2020 keynote. Shortly after that, Apple launched its first developer beta of the updated mobile operating systems, allowing developers to go hands-on with the new features and prepare their apps for the update before it launches sometime this Fall.
While iOS and iPadOS 14 snagged a ton of features from the jailbreak community as Apple does every year with each substantial release, it doesn’t seem like jailbreaking will be going anywhere any time soon. In a Tweet shared late last night, checkra1n team co-developer Dany Lisiansky shared a teaser screenshot of the checkra1n jailbreak on the first iOS 14 beta:
Electra Team lead developer CoolStar took to Discord late last night to share that the team was working diligently on a new jailbreak tool dubbed Odyssey for A9-A13 devices running iOS 13.0-13.5. If you remember those teasers about Chimera13 in the distant past, then this appears to be that very jailbreak, albeit with a different name.
Citing the brief, the Odyssey jailbreak will ship with proprietary software including libhooker and the Sileo package manager. Furthermore, it will ship with Procursus and it’s expected to be inter-compatible with checkra1n devices that have used the Odysseyra1n script to enjoy the Odyssey bootstrap on those devices.

The unc0ver Team has released a third public beta of its unc0ver for TV jailbreak tool for the Apple TV 4 and Apple TV 4K this week with a number of critical bug fixes and performance improvements, as well as updated bundled software.

Just yesterday, the unc0ver Team launched the first unc0ver for TV v5.1.0 beta, permitting Apple TV owners on the latest version of tvOS to jailbreak their Apple-branded set top box. The news came just a few days after unc0ver picked up support for iOS and iPadOS 13.5.
Early Wednesday morning, however, the unc0ver Team published a second beta of unc0ver for TV v5.1.0. The announcement was shared early Wednesday morning via the official unc0ver Team Twitter page:

In case you missed it, the unc0ver jailbreak added support for iOS/iPadOS 13.5 over Memorial Day weekend via a new 0-day exploit from Pwn20wnd, which conveniently also happens to be the latest available firmware version for iPhones and iPads from Apple. So yes, you can literally update your iOS/iPadOS devices to the latest version and jailbreak it, folks!
But if you paid any attention to team unc0ver’s announcements when the first update (v5.0.1) dropped, you might’ve noticed that the team is planning near-future support for the latest version of tvOS, and it seems some rather interesting things could be coming to the platform.
Just as promised, the unc0ver Team officially delivered unc0ver v5.0.0 on Saturday with support for the latest version of Apple’s mobile operating system, iOS 13.5 (and iPadOS 13.5), on all handsets capable of deploying it. Apple only just released iOS 13.5 on Wednesday, making this a particularly jaw-dropping release as it's the latest available firmware at the time of this writing.
The announcement that the update was coming took the jailbreak community by storm following more than two months of silence on the unc0ver Team’s behalf, but the wait was unquestionably worth it as jailbreakers now have the ability to liberate the latest iOS release on Apple’s newest handsets for the first time in what feels like forever.
The unc0ver jailbreak is about to be updated to version 5.0.0 with official support for all devices that can run iOS and iPadOS 13.5, and in a silent and rather unexpected undercut, the checkra1n team released v0.10.2 beta of its bootrom exploit-based jailbreak tool for macOS Saturday evening with official support for iOS and iPadOS 13.5.
