Wizard Golf RPG review: cast spells under par for a bizarre mash up of fun

Golf used to be an old man’s sport, or at least a rich man’s game. Recently, the sport has become more popular with younger players. Once virtual golf took off, fans of all ages are able to take a swing or two. Thanks to video game golfing, players can now travel all over the world, and even the universe, to play.

Wizard Golf RPG takes the concept of golfing virtually anywhere and places it in medieval times. However, it is so much more than golfing. Players are faced with all manner of dungeon creatures as they try for a hole-in-one. We’ve got a full game review of Wizard Golf RPG for you today.

Bowling Central teams up with your Apple TV for Wii-like bowling action

Rolocule, the veteran developers behind games like Motion Tennis and Dance Party, is back with perhaps its most ambitious title ever called Bowling Central. At its core, the game offers a stellar mobile bowling experience, with state-of-the-art physics, stunning 3D graphics and over 30 unique challenges. But things get really interesting when you turn on your Apple TV.

Utilizing Apple's AirPlay Mirroring technology, Bowling Central can stream gameplay footage from your iOS device to your television set by way of Apple TV. This not only gives you a much better view of the game, but it also frees up your iPhone or iPod touch to be used as a controller for what is best described as a Wii-like gaming experience. Mobile game developers Ustwo published a blog post today revealing some interesting figures on their hit game Monument Valley. For those unfamiliar with the title, it's a popular indie puzzler that took home several awards and was Apple's iPad Game of the Year in 2014.

Among the stats provided by the devs is that Monument Valley has been installed on over 10 million unique devices since it debuted in April last year. Due to piracy and promotions, it's only seen around 2.4 million "official sales," but that still translates into $5.8 million.

Drop Wizard review: another classic retro arcade game for nostalgia’s sake

With 16-bit gaming practically a relic, anyone over the age of 25 will look back on such antiquated graphics with fond memories. Some younger gamers will appreciate the simplicity, as well. It’s all about what types of games make you happy.

Drop Wizard seems like it dropped out of 1987. It is a retro arcade game with nicely designed 16-bit graphics and a chip tune soundtrack that will make old-schoolers giggle with delight. We’ve got a full game review of Drop Wizard for you today.

Check out Spirefall, an endless arcade platformer for iOS with a twist

The instant I saw Spirefall I fondly remembered Nebulus, a 1987 platform game for the Commodore Amiga and other home computers of the time in which your character must walk all around a cylinder-shaped tower that has ledges on the outside.

Created by Pixel Hunter Games and released by Gameblyr, Spirefall has your character, a cute cat, moving left or right in such a way that it always stays in the centre of the visible screen because the spire turns clockwise or counterclockwise with a convincing sense of depth — again, much like in Nebulus.

Space Marshals review: the Wild West comes to outer space

When I think of outer space and the Wild West, I think of Firefly. I love the idea of combining laser blasters and horses, or six-shooters and alien plant life. Some of my favorite science fiction movies are basically westerns set in a galaxy far, far away.

Space Marshals combines the two genres into one seamless top-down shooter. Grab your guns and hitch a ride on the space shuttle. Hang on to your hats, because this here is one blazing saddle (was that enough western referencing for you?). We’ve got a full review of Space Marshals for you today.

Sky Patrol is here, head off enemy attack with missiles and more

If you are in the mood for a strategic arcade shooter that takes place in the clear blue sky above, this is your lucky day. With a huge arsenal of weapons at your disposal, you’ll be the warden of the airwaves.

Sky Patrol is a combat shooter that put players in the cockpit of a highly weaponized warship. Your job is to escort transport crews across airspace that is heavily populated by enemies. Tap, swipe, and shoot your way to clear skies.
