World of Khaos turns tower defense into shoot ‘em up mayhem

Tower defense is another one of those categories that we see a lot on mobile devices. In order to rise to the top and earn acclaim, developers need a unique take on the genre.

World of Khaos is both unique and classic. Players must fight waves of iridium based robots, cyborgs, and mutants on a stationary screen with a design style that reminds me of shoot ‘em up games like Raiden.

Dr. Panda’s Restaurant 2 is App Store’s new Free App of the Week

Part of its ongoing weekly promotion, Apple's App Store editorial team has now chosen a new Free App of the Week, Dr. Panda's Restaurant 2 by TribePlay, giving you an instant saving of three bucks.

Optimized for iOS 8 and designed for ages 6-8, this iPhone and iPad game comes with a notable educational value attached to the download.

The app helps children understand life and the world around them by inviting them to become chefs and make the pizza of their dreams and other dishes while experimenting with various ingredients.

It'll educate kids on the basic steps of making all sorts of different foods and help them familiarize themselves with how different recipes and kitchen tools work.

Who's ready to cook the food of their dreams?

Alto’s Adventure is launching next Thursday and I can’t wait to play it!

I don't have a clue about skiing and snowboarding, but that doesn't mean I'm not a sucker for winter games in the App Store. Especially if they're based on an endless running concept, incorporate artistic backdrops, have a somber soundtrack and delight with buttery-smooth execution.

That's why I'm so much looking forward to Alto’s Adventure, an upcoming iPhone and iPad game set against a beautiful, procedurally generated alpine landscape. The game is releasing in the App Store next Thursday, February 19 and it stands poised to become a big hit.

Cut the Rope creators release a challenging platformer, King of Thieves

ZeptoLab, a Russian entertainment and gaming company best known for developing the Cut the Rope mobile franchise, today released its latest iOS game in the App Store, King of Thieves.

King of Thieves is a challenging platformer with elements of asynchronous player-vs-player multiplayer games in which you must steal other player's gold and gems undetected.

Game mechanics involve lots of leaping off walls, jumping, avoiding obstacles and what not. King of Thieves also incorporates some elements of tower defense games so give it a whirl if you're a fan of the genre.

Radiation Island is like Lost mixed with Minecraft and The Walking Dead

One of iDB’s readers recently recommended we check out Radiation Island. I noticed in the App Store the day it launched, but had so much going on that I skipped it over without looking into what it was (that happens sometimes).

I am so glad our readers are on top of new releases because that recommendation led me to check the game out and I am hooked. Read my hands-on game review of Radiation Island below.

Heads up gamers, IGN has just named EA's "Mass Effect: Infiltrator" its Free Game of the Month for February. The title has a rating of 4 out of 5 stores in the App Store, on thousands of reviews, and it typically retails for $4.99.

In Infiltrator, you play as veteran Cerberus agent Randall Ezno who works at a secret facility that conducts illicit experiments on alien beings. But when those experiments go too far, Randall vows to bring the whole project down.

Satellina review: take touch-based gameplay to the next level

Thanks to the popularity of mobile gaming and the advances in touch screen technology, developers are able to create an entirely new genre for fans to enjoy. You can now combine the simplicity of mobile games with the wonders of gesture-based controls.

Satellina is a mobile game that requires nothing but touching the screen. However, you must have the precision skills of a brain surgeon to navigate the ever-changing environment. We have a full game review of Satillina for you today.

Potatoman Seeks the Troof: a retro twitch game for the highly skilled player

Games that test your reaction time can be both exciting and aggravating. If you are really good at precision timing and control, you can walk away from these twitch games with your head held high. If not, you might as well give up now.

Potatoman Seeks the Troof is one of those types of games that will either make you beam with pride or collapse on the floor, crying. Can you handle the challenge?
