Bunny Bonker reinvents whack-a-mole for a more modern sensibility

I know I’m going to get razzed by some of our readers for spotlighting this app today. It is super cutesy, based on a Chuck-E-Cheese game, and features a whistle-performed indie song that makes you think of an Amazon Kindle commercial.

But, mark my words, Bunny Bonker is challenging and fun and at least half of you will thank me for telling you about it…

Plants vs Zombies 2 racks up 25 million downloads

Just ten days ago, Electronic Arts announced PopCap's hotly anticipated Plants vs Zombies sequel topped sixteen million download since its August 16 App Store debut. Today, the super publisher shared another milestone: players have now downloaded Plants vs Zombies 2 twenty-five million times. That's nine million downloads in just ten days, averaging to a download rate of nearly a million copies per day...

Cut the Rope is Apple’s Free App of the Week

If you're a sucker for physics-based puzzlers as I've always been but really can't stand Angry Birds anymore, Cut the Rope is a much-needed refreshment from Rovio's bird-slinging franchise. On the surface, the concept seems dull: you're tasked with feeding candy to a little green monster named Om Nom while collecting stars.

But it's how developers executed the super-realistic physics gameplay and paired it with colorful cartoonish visuals that blows mind.

Tens of millions of players can't be wrong and I'm also guilty of falling in love and getting addicted to Cut the Rope. Already downloaded more than 300 million times around the world, the game's never been free on the App Store so it's kinda big deal  that Apple's just made Cut the Rope its Free App of the Week...

Abyss Attack review: a traditional vertical shooter game

A few days ago, I told you about the vertical shoot-em-up (shmup) game M.A.C.E. As a follow up for fans of games like the Raiden series of long ago, we’ve got another vertical shmup for you, only this time it’s underwater.

Raiden takes place on the ground, M.A.C.E. takes place in space, and Abyss Attack takes place in the dark recesses of deep sea…

Test your memory with The Impossible Line

Do you remember playing the game of Memory? There would be a bunch of cards, face-down, on the table and you had to remember where each one was in order to find its mate and make the match.

The Impossible Line is a casual puzzle game that tests your ability to remember where objects are, but this is not your kid’s card-flipping memory game. You’ll be bouncing off of walls if you don’t remember where they are…

Rovio teams up with Red Bull for Angry Birds Go kart racing game

It's easy to downplay the wild success Rovio's enjoyed with the Angry Birds games like no one is interested when in reality people continue to play and buy everything related to the franchise like there's no tomorrow. It's also OK not to admit you're a fan of the series and still be interested in an Angry Birds-themed kart racing game the Finnish developer's been working on.

Created in partnership with Austrian energy drink powerhouse Red Bull, Angry Birds Go is much like a few other racing games Red Bull has previously endorsed, though we're of course expecting something of a twist here...

Director John Woo delves into iOS gaming, teases Bloodstroke

If you're a fan of movies such as Face/Off, definitely keep tabs on UK-based red hot publisher Chillingo's upcoming Bloodstroke, an iPhone and iPad "on-rails" game boasting the story and script written by John Woo. Yes, John Woo, the action movie director!

Currently in development by the Moon Shark studio, Bloodstroke takes place all over Asia.

The game puts you in the shoes of Phalanx’s elite private security agent code-named Lotus (real name: Mai Lee) who gets involved "in an exciting story."

The game's premise determines most missions, which revolve around protect your employer on the streets of Hong Kong and Beijing. Bloodstroke strives to set itself apart with a nice black and white graphic style, with colors being used only sparingly and consciously for emphasis (hint: blood)...

Super Brothers brings a very familiar platformer style to iOS

For fans of the Super Mario Bros franchise that have hoped the world’s favorite platformer would someday get ported to iOS, the fire has died and reality has drained all optimism that it will ever happen.

Since you can’t have the real thing, why not experiment with a game that is not entirely unlike it. Super Brothers is a reproduction that is not an exact copy, but comes close enough to make you question whether the app’s developers are violating some kind of copyright laws…

EA Sports releases free-to-play Madden NFL 25 for iPhone and iPad

Billed as "an experience 25 years in the making", Madden NFL 25 strives to deliver the most authentic NFL football experience to date on the iPhone, iPod and iPad devices. The game challenges players to build theirUltimate Team of NFL stars and run the show on offense and defense with new and improved touch controls, game modes and more.

And in embracing the freemium trend fully, EA Sports has made the decision to release the game on a free-to-play basis, with in-app purchases ranging from as little as 99 cents to as much as a whopping 99 dollars for an All Madden Bundle pack.

If you're a fan of professional American football this is a no-brainer as the game looks awesome and plays great. I've included a splashy teaser trailer and a couple additional tidbits right after the break...

Pixel Gun 3D review: now with worldwide multiplayer mode

PixelGun 3D has been hovering around the top spot for paid apps for a while now. Maybe it’s because it comes with a custom skin maker for Minecraft. Maybe because it has that retro pixel look that old school gamers go gaga over.

It could also be because the game, now called Pixel Gun 3D, is actually a good first-person shooter game that fans of the genre will enjoy…

Join the pork side in Angry Birds Star Wars II clips starring Ian McDiarmid

Angry Birds maker Rovio today posted two amusing videos pertaining to the upcoming Angry Birds Star Wars II, the first installment to its Star Wars-themed Angry Birds game that was released last November.

As a matter of fact, the company actually started teasing Angry Birds Star Wars II a little over two months ago and we know it's due for release on September 19.

Keeping it on the fun side, Rovio invites you to "join the Pork Side" and play as the piggies. That's right, Angry Birds Star Wars II will feature bird and pig versions. Exploring some of the more than thirty characters from the Star Wars universe to be featured in the game, these clips are voiced by actor Ian McDiarmid who played the legendary Emperor character in the Star Wars movies...

Cloud Spin lets you take to the skies in a fantasy adventure

Sometimes, you just want to get away from it all. The idea of soaring above the clouds without a care in the world sounds enticing enough to make anyone wish they were an eagle, or a falcon, or at least a rabbit with a jetpack

Cloud Spin is an arcade flyer game that puts you under the wings of a hot dogging bunny who dips, dives, and dashes his way through the atmosphere. Let the wind carry you across the sky and you may just forget you’re worries after all...
