Jailbreak Drama: Who Leaked the SHAtter Exploit?

Looking at the drama going on between MuscleNerd and P0sixNinja on Twitter, I feel like I am watching a full season of the Young and the Restless. Quick heads up for those of you who didn't follow the whole conversation.

A few months ago, hacker pod2g found a bootrom exploit in iOS 4.0.1 which was quickly named SHAtter. Chronic Dev Team later started using SHAtter for their GreenPois0n jailbreak for iOS 4.1. Then GeoHot came in the game with a new exploit that he was going to use no matter what in his LimeRa1n jailbreak. At this time, Chronic Dev didn't have a choice but to put SHAtter on the side for later, and use GeoHot's exploit.

Everything was going fine until rumors started going around that SHAtter had been leaked...

Great news for those of you looking to upgrade your ride in 2011, especially if Ford happens to be on your short list. That's because the 2011 Ford Fiesta, will be the first of many Ford's to feature an upgrade to the automaker's SYNC technology.

That upgrade is dubbed AppLink, and it promises to give future Ford owners voice control over various iPhone apps. Hmm, Pandora, anyone?

Why Don’t Both of My Speakers Work on My iPhone?

In this latest video from our ongoing iPhone Basics series, we investigate the question that seems to forever permeate the iPhone community. Just what is the deal with the iPhone speakers? Why is sound only coming from one speaker?

Likely, you already know the answer to this question, but for new iPhone owners, it's a legitimate inquiry. Check inside as we spill the beans on the iPhone's speaker issues, along with a brief history lesson as well...

Veggie Samurai iPhone App Review

Veggie Samurai created by QuantumSquid Interactive, is a slice and dice upgrade from the popular Fruit Ninja game. While the name is almost a blatant rip off (e.g. does iPed ring any bells?), that’s as far as it goes because it brings a lot of fun and uniqueness to the table.

This game is all about slicing vegetables and Veggie Samurai offers 6 chaotic modes Samurai, Hardcore, Harmony, Chaos, Sort, and Match modes.

The first game mode has 3 similar styles. Samurai mode will throw vegetables and poison vials in the air. You will have three uncut vegetable drops, 3 broken poison vials or a mixture of the two before it’s game over. Chaos mode is similar to Samurai except that the speed is twice or three times as fast. And Hardcore mode will give you no second chances before the game is over...

Looks Like We’re Not Getting an Untethered Jailbreak for Christmas After All

Did MuscleNerd spoke too fast when he said last week that we'd get an untethered jailbreak for Christmas? It sure looks like it when reading this tweet Comex sent out a few minutes ago saying that he was going to miss his Christmas deadline..

At this point, I'm not sure whether Comex is working on an untethered solution or a full new jailbreak tool (jailbreakme?) One thing is sure though, we might not get anything from him this Christmas...

Browse Mobile Safari Using the iPhone 4’s Gyroscope

The iPhone 4's gyroscope is one of the more underused features of Apple's flagship iOS device, so it's nice to see developers like Occipital -- creator of the iPhone app 360 Panorama -- put the technology to good use.

During the development of 360 Panorama, the crew uncovered the ability to control Mobile Safari using nothing more than the iPhone's gyroscope. Want to give it a test spin? Check out the link inside...

Sam’s Club Offering iPhone 4 Upgrades for Only $147 Through Christmas Day

Sam's Club is selling AT&T-locked iPhone 4's for $147 with a two-year contract. This offer runs through Christmas day, and is the cheapest retail sale of an iPhone 4 that you will find this holiday season.

The Sam's Club "iPhone Christmas" is part of a growing trend. Retailers everywhere seem to be discounting smartphones around this time of the year, but there hasn't been much discount activity on Apple's coveted iPhone.

While this Sam's Club promotion is short, it's still a killer deal if you're eligible for an iPhone 4 upgrade...

Camera+ is Back in The App Store

The Camera+ fiasco has been an interesting one to follow. The popular photography app was a sensation when it was first released in the App Store. Then, it was pulled. Just like that. The app was updated with a backdoor to allow a volume button camera shutter, which apparently Apple didn't like.

At the time of it being pulled, Camera+ was considered the crème de la crème of photography apps. Most felt as though Apple should have lightened up on Camera+ by not pulling the app for simply adding a cool and innovative feature. The problem was that Camera+ violated Apple's guidelines on how an app can interface with the iPhone's controls.

We recently reported that Camera+ had announced that its return to the App Store would be very soon. After many months of silence, Camera+ is back and better than ever...

‘SB 2 Cloud’ is the Perfect iPhone Screenshot Companion

Being an iPhone blogger means having to take tons of screenshots of the iPhone's screen, and meticulously emailing them to myself so that I can use them in my articles. It's a drawn out process that I've been looking to streamline for quite some time.

Droplr was a great start, but it still required me to manually select the files I wanted to upload to the cloud, similar to email. Wouldn't it be great if every screenshot you took was automatically uploaded to the cloud with no human intervention?

Apparently the developers of SB 2 Cloud think so, because this jailbreak tweak accomplishes just that...

Ninja Steve: Steve Jobs Satire At Its Finest

Apparently, Steve Jobs really is a ninja. "Ninja Steve" isn't your typical iPhone game. In it, you are the man himself - Steve Jobs.

You aren't the calm, keynote-giving Jobs that we all know and love. You are Ninja Steve. As Ninja Steve, you must fight through waves of green robots (that bear a striking resemblance to the Google Android bot) by throwing your trusty shurikens.

I have no clue how this app got approved for the App Store, but I would think it definitely wins the "Most Assured App to Piss Steve Jobs Off" award...
