Bik – A Space Adventure is a fun point-and-click game for iOS

Director Steven Spielberg made such magical sci-fi movies as “Close Encounters of the Third Kind,” “E.T. The Extraterrestrial,” and “War of the Worlds.” Thanks to films like these, I am always looking to the stars, wondering whether there really is something out there.

Bik – A Space Adventure has the perfect plot for a Spielberg movie. Boy goes camping. Boy gets abducted by aliens. Boy saves the world. Help Bik survive with the aid of his new alien buddy Ammut.

The best apps for learning a new language

I’ve learned three languages in addition to my native English over my lifetime. I took three years of Spanish in high school, two semesters of Mandarin in junior college, and four semesters of French in college. Guess what? I forgot everything. If you don’t use it, you lose it. Seriously.

If you used to know multiple languages but forgot everything, want to brush up on a language you don't get to use very often, or just want to learn a new one, we’ve got a list of what we think are the best apps for learning a new language.

Apps of the week: Star Walk 2, The Firm, PAC-MAN Friends, and more…

This has been a great week for discounts on great apps and games. We saw Tydlig drop in price to zero from $2.99 and the exciting arcade runner Atom Run is this week’s Free App Of The Week. There were some sweet updates as well, like Vine’s new camera roll upload feature and the SoundHound-Rdio integration.

We also saw the launch of some fantastic new titles. If you are looking for some great new content for your iPhone, we’ve got a great list of new apps and games for you to check out this weekend.

Pako – Car Chase Simulator will give you a run for your money

Car chase scenes are some of my favorites in action flicks. You really don’t see enough of them anymore. My favorite is when buildings and vehicles randomly explode with little or no reason why.

Pako – Car Chase Simulator is another in the recent influx of simulation games. Players try to keep their car on the road while avoiding the cops that are closing in, random explosions included…

This puzzle game is incredibly simple, but deceptively hard

I wonder if there is any study, which shows that playing logic puzzle games improves your brain function. If that were the case, then I would be a genius by now.

Squares: Puzzle Game is one of those titles that make you feel a little bit smarter than you were before you started playing. All you have to do is move some squares around, but the complexity is in its simplicity. We’ve got a game review of Squares: Puzzle Game for you today…

Truth lets you send anonymous text messages to your contacts

You know that friend you’ve been hanging out with for the past few months? The one you are too shy to ask out? You’ve probably gone home alone after a group get-together, kicking yourself for not pulling that friend aside and asking for a date.

Truth – Just Say It is an anonymous way for you to tell that friend you are interested without having to expose your vulnerability. If you are rejected, your friend won’t even know it was you…

This app tells you what apps are battery hogs

Some days, my iPhone 5 works all day with very little battery drain. Other days, it seems like I’ve run out of juice after minimal usage. I’ve always wondered which activities are the biggest culprits in my battery drainage.

Normal: Battery Analytics is a diagnostics app that uses general information about your device and compares it with that of thousands of other iPhone users to help you determine which apps should be killed and which should be deleted altogether in order to spare your battery life.

In Boshi, you must be a stealthy lumberjack to avoid the wolf pack

Most stealth games require the player to stay hidden until out of the line of sight of others. Moving from one room to another without getting caught is harder than you’d think. But, what if there are no rooms to hide in and the sound of trees falling in the forest will also set off the alarm?

Boshi is a sort of stealth game where players must chop down trees without being seen or heard by nearby wolves. If you get caught, your only help is a flare gun with four flares. Good luck fending off all of those hungry wolves...

The best iPhone apps for tracking earthquakes

I live in California. I was born and raised here. I’ve never lived more than three hours from the coast my entire life. Growing up in Southern California, I was raised on earthquake preparedness. Every year we would experience a handful of tremors that would send me scrambling to the nearest doorframe or desk. I’m kind of terrified of earthquakes.

I found that I alleviate my fears, somewhat, if I can keep an eye on the shifting plates below my feet. Knowing what has happened historically helps me plan for the future, or at least makes me think I can. We’ve got a list for you of what we think are the best apps for watching earthquakes for those of you who like to keep an eye on things, too…

Size DOES Matter, but only in this game…

O.K., I know what you’re thinking, but it's not about that. When you find out a little bit more about this game, you’ll see how apropos the name really is. Sometimes, you just have to go with what works.

Size DOES Matter is a rhythm game where… well, size matters. Players control a series of blocks that can shrink and grow in order to fit into different sizes of gates. Don’t crash into them or you’ll lose everything.

Assault Vector review: turn-based strategy set in outer space

I am a sucker for a turn-based strategy game. They can be great time wasters. I love planning my move, setting up my men, and hitting hard with a great attack.

Assault Vector is a turn-based strategy game where players must be ready for attack from all angles. Plan your attack before your enemy gets you cornered. We took it for a spin and have a full review of Assault Vector for you below…
