Theme Thursday: Aromy, RipMe HD, Patience and more

The ninth edition of Theme Thursday, a weekly column that promotes some of the best Winterboard themes, features four releases with noticeably different designs. Aromy has a playful color scheme with drop shadows, RipMe HD has a nature-based design, px.theme is a pixel theme and Patience is just beautiful. Take a look at each ahead and keep your recommendations coming in the comments for next week…

Theme Thursday: Inversify, Ayza, VectrOS and more

It is quite impressive that even as this eighth edition of Theme Thursday has come upon us, there are still a number of quality Winterboard themes being released each week. It is equally as impressive how collaborative the theming community is in general, as a number of iDownloadBlog readers and others continue to share themes with us that they feel are deserving of making this column. This week, we are proud to share Inversify, Ayza, Rollypop and VectrOS. Here they are…

Theme Thursday: Newport for iOS 7, Trima HD and Lucid

We're back with the seventh edition of Theme Thursday, a weekly column that promotes some of the best Winterboard theme releases for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. This column has mostly been experimental up until this point, as we continue to gauge the feedback from our readers. What we heard last week was that many of the themes looked very similar to each other, so this week we've tried to make things more unique…

Theme Thursday: Habesha, Mary and Myrea

It is already March and time for the sixth edition of Theme Thursday, a weekly roundup that features some of the best Winterboard themes for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. Even over three months since the iOS 7 jailbreak was released, there continues to be a number of high-quality theme releases each week. Ayeris captured the attention of the jailbreaking community last week, and this time around we present you with Habesha, Mary and Myrea…

Ayeris jailbreak theme released for iPad

Ayeris—the follow up jailbreak theme from Ayecon creator, Surenix, is now available for jailbroken iPad users. The theme, which was initially released for the iPhone last month, brings a subtle yet refreshing refinement to the look and feel of stock iOS 7.

If you've already purchased Ayeris for the iPhone, then the iPad version is only $0.99. Check inside for additional details.

Theme Thursday: Axla, FlatIcons, Gusht and more

This fifth edition of Theme Thursday marks one month since we began highlighting some of the best Winterboard themes available for iPhone and iPod touch. It has been a lot of fun putting this column together each week, and I'm glad that so many readers have been enjoying it. iPad users, your roundup is on the horizon.

Best of all, it makes me proud that we're able to give some well-deserved recognition to the talented graphic designers in this community. If it wasn't for those people, we wouldn't have these great themes to use on our devices. So, without further ado, this week's featured themes are: Axla, iOS 8 Concept, FlatIcons, Gusht and iOS 8 Infinity Theme. Dive right in…

Ayeris review — a subtly re-imagined iOS 7

Ayecon is probably the most well-known jailbreak theme of all time, and for good reason; it was groundbreaking upon its initial release, harnessing the power of the then newly-christened Retina display for insanely detailed and hyper-skeuomorphic app icons.

But when Apple decided to switch things up with iOS 7—ushering in its first post-Forstall release and shedding tons of skeuomorphic weight in the process—Ayecon no longer felt fresh and new. Ayecon is like the anti-iOS 7, because it heavily depends on the now outdated skeuomorphic identity of iOS 6 and below.

When the iOS 7 version of Ayecon was released earlier this year, it was met with mixed reactions due to its polarizing nature when compared to iOS 7. Although some pledged unequivocal allegiance to the legendary theme, not a few were disappointed that it didn't usher in something new, something more iOS 7 appropriate, something, well, more flat.

Surenix's first new theme since Ayecon is the perfect answer to the semi-collective "meh" heard across the jailbreak community. Instead of trying to shoehorn an old theme into a mold it was never intended to fit, a fresh new start was warranted. Ayeris is that fresh start.

Unlike Ayecon's heavy-handed approach to design, Ayeris is a much more subtle re-imagining of iOS 7. We've been testing Ayeris for the past few weeks on our day-to-day devices, and we'd like to show it to you now. Check inside for our full hands-on review and video.

Theme Thursday: Jaku, Slab and Redsgn 2.0

The fourth edition of Theme Thursday has arrived, a weekly column that covers some of the best theme releases for Winterboard to date. This week's roundup continues to focus on iPhone and iPod touch themes, although many are designed for the iPad as well. Moreover, after listening to your feedback for the last three weeks, we have plans to publish an iPad theme roundup in the near future.

This week, we highlight the following themes: Jaku, Slab and Redsgn 2.0. To get the reflective dock used in the screenshots, download ClassicDock. I am also using a custom font called Cartogothic Std that is applied using BytaFont. In this edition of Theme Thursday, I provide a combination of stock images from the designers alongside my own screenshots. Take a look…

Welcome to the third edition of our Theme Thursday roundup, which highlights some of the best theme releases for Winterboard each week. The themes featured this week are: Laguna, 3 4 All, Enkelt Neue, Zanilla 2.1 and iRa. I'm also using ClassicDock and Iconomatic throughout. Take a look…

Popular theming app pulled from Google Play due to Apple copyright complaint

Themer, a popular Android customization app by MyColorScreen, was pulled from the Google Play marketplace last week. The app allows users to browse a selection of home screen themes, and it appears that one of them may be guilty of copyright infringement.

The theme is called 'Seven,' and as you've probably guessed by now, it looks like its creator got a lot of his inspiration from iOS 7. So Apple has filed a copyright complaint with Google, forcing the search giant to remove the app to avoid further legal ramifications...

How to add a circular battery indicator to the iPhone’s status bar

I've been a big fan of Alkaline—the jailbreak tweak that allows you to theme the battery indicator—since it was first released. Not only does it comes bundled with a couple of great looking battery themes, but it has also lead to the contribution of various other themes from members of the jailbreak community.

The latest Alkaline theme to hit Cydia is called Circular Battery, and as its name suggests, it provides users with a circular battery indicator. If you're looking for an easy and subtle way to change up the look of your iPhone's status bar, then this is it. Check out our video for Circular Battery after the break.

Theme Thursday: Anode, Clarity, i7Cons and more

Welcome to the second edition of our Theme Thursday roundup, which highlights some of the best theme releases each week. While this column is primarily focused on iPhone and iPod touch themes, many of them are also compatible with the iPad. We also often mention some worthwhile alternatives to consider looking into.
