Verizon About to Drop iPhone 4 to $150?

Apple didn't surprise too many people when they didn't announce a new version of their popular smartphone last month. We've known since March that Apple wasn't planning on unveiling any new hardware at their WWDC conference.

A majority of the rumor mill points to an early fall release for the next iPhone, and we have a few reasons to believe that's accurate. It's been reported that Apple has already dropped supply orders in anticipation for the new model, now we're getting word of an iPhone 4 price-drop...

Verizon iPhone Helps Eat into Android OS Market Share, Makes Apple 3rd Largest

While the Verizon iPhone doesn't seem as popular as Apple had expected, it has helped Cupertino in various ways.

According to NPD's quarterly results on U.S smartphone sales, the availability of the iPhone on Verizon Wireless not only bumped Apple to the third largest phone seller in the U.S, but also helped eat into Android's market share for the first time since 2009.

AT&T’s Q1 iPhone Sales Up 33%, Unaffected by Verizon iPhone

AT&T posted its first-quarter earnings this morning, and the U.S. carrier saw a 33% increase in iPhone activations during the first quarter of 2011. A grand total of 3.6 million iPhones were activated on AT&T, helping to give the carrier a 10.2% overall increase in wireless revenue.

Since the iPhone was made available on Verizon, a drop in iPhone sales on AT&T has been expected. Instead, AT&T announced that this past quarter was its best first-quarter earnings ever. Looks like the Verizon iPhone isn't really enticing customers away from AT&T...

Verizon Reportedly Sold 1 Million iPhones Over Launch Weekend

Verizon reportedly sold 1 million iPhones during the device's opening weekend. In-store sales of the Verizon iPhone haven't been that great, but Verizon says over 60% of its units were sold through the online pre-order.

For some reason, Verizon hasn't released any official numbers from the iPhone's launch on its network. When a product sells well, companies are usually eager to brag about it with big numbers. Maybe Verizon doesn't have that much to brag about.

Or maybe Big Red is playing these figures close to the chest for another reason. According to analysts, Verizon actually sold 1 million iPhones over opening weekend.
