iOS 11-based Electra jailbreak updated to v2.0 with improved bootstrap, tweak injection, & more

Earlier in the month, Chimera Team lead developer CoolStar announced a fresh version of the iOS 12-centric Chimera jailbreak tool with support for the Procursus bootstrap, libhooker tweak injection, and a whole host of back-ported improvements that derived from the newer Odyssey jailbreak. Now, it seems the older iOS 12-based  Electra jailbreak tool is receiving a similar treatment.

As shared early this morning in CoolStar’s official Sileo / Odyssey / Chimera Discord server, the Electra jailbreak has been officially updated to version 2.0 with an upgraded Chimera bootstrap with libhooker tweak injection and other miscellaneous improvements:

Jailbreaks.app is a new signing service for jailbreakers without computers

Unless you’re using the checkra1n jailbreak tool, you’ll find that most other jailbreaks require you to side load a special app and deploy it to get your handset into a jailbroken state. Most jailbreakers use AltStore to accomplish this task nowadays, but signing services are another option if you aren’t fortunate enough to have a computer at your disposal.

Joining the party is a brand-new signing service dubbed Jailbreaks.app, which just launched Thursday afternoon. The platform, developed by iCraze and designed by CaspD3V, can be accessed via the native Safari web browser on any iPhone or iPad to download and deploy compatible jailbreak tool(s).

Updated Sileo beta makes the app’s Get button 7-15x faster

Whether you’re taking advantage of the Electra jailbreak for iOS 11 or the Chimera jailbreak for iOS 12, one thing is certain: you’ve got the Sileo package manager hiding out somewhere on your Home Screen. The same statement applies for those using the Chimera1n or Odysseyra1n bootstraps on the popular checkra1n jailbreak for iOS 12 & 13.

Regardless of which of the aforementioned setups you’re running on your pwned handset, it’s worth noting that the Sileo Team launched an updated beta version of the Sileo package manager Thursday afternoon with some serious speed improvements. The latest beta was announced via the Sileo Team’s official Twitter account just over an hour ago:

Sileo updated with support for editorials, more Swift-driven UI

In a brand-new update for the Sileo package manager Sunday evening, the Sileo Team incorporated support for built-in editorials so that avid jailbreakers who are interested in reading about jailbreak-centric news can now do so in addition to installing their favorite packages.

According to the official Tweet shared just minutes ago via the Sileo Team Twitter page, the team notes that editorials will appear for users under the ‘New’ tab in the app, integrating with an existing list of newly released packages and package updates:

Sileo Team releases open source Sileo v2.0.0 alpha 1 for testing

At the start of the week, the Sileo Team turned a new leaf that resonated positively with the jailbreak community when it said that most of the first alpha iteration of Sileo v2.0.0 had been published to GitHub as open source software. But since then, the team has been particularly tight-lipped about when it would be pushed to the default repositories for hands-on testing.

Fortunately, that’s no longer a mystery. In an announcement shared via Twitter Friday evening, the Sileo Team said that Sileo v2.0.0 alpha 1 could now be installed from the Electra and Chimera repositories on their respective jailbreaks:

How to side-load the unc0ver jailbreak with Xcode on macOS

If you rely side-loadable jailbreak tools such as Chimera, Electra, or unc0ver, then it’s important to understand the plethora of ways you can install them on your iPhone or iPad. While methods such as AltStore, Cydia Impactor, and third-party signing services like Ignition and iOS Ninja are some of the most popular, many tend to forget that you can use Apple’s own Xcode development platform on the Mac to accomplish this task.

The Xcode method came in clutch for me countless times when Cydia Impactor stopped working for an extended period and when all the best signing services had been revoked; to make matters worse, my handset's iOS version was too old to run AltStore. With that in mind, we’ll be sharing the Xcode method in this tutorial for fellow jailbreakers that find themselves in similar predicaments down the road.

Sileo v1.7.0 beta 2 brings further speed improvements to the app

The Sileo Team pushed an updated public beta version of the Sileo package manager for the Electra (iOS 11) and Chimera (iOS 12) jailbreaks Sunday evening, officially bringing the project up to version 1.7.0 beta 2.

The announcement, shared mere minutes ago via the Sileo Team’s official Twitter page, denotes several improvements in the latest beta release:

AltDeploy v1.1 brings a new icon, support for multiple Apple IDs, and more

In the absence of any updates to Saurik’s jailbreak-centric Cydia Impactor tool since it stopped working several months ago, Chimera, Electra, and unc0ver jailbreak users have faced frustrating times. Luckily, a working alternative called AltDeploy made its first public debut a few days ago.

Just this weekend, AltDeploy received its second official update since being released. The latest update brings the young side-loading utility up to version 1.1 and incorporates both bug fixes and improvements that help make the app better for end users.

Cydia Impactor alternative ‘AltDeploy’ officially released for side-loading apps

Those using the side-loadable Chimera and unc0ver jailbreak apps have experienced quite a rough patch these past couple of months given Cydia Impactor’s current broken state and the scarcity of reliable signing services that don’t get their certificates revoked shortly after going online. These issues have made it unusually challenging to get the jailbreak(s) running again after the host device endures a power cycle.

Saurik hinted in November that he would be looking into ways to fix Cydia Impactor, but we’ve since passed the expected ETA for such an update, prompting members of our very own jailbreak community to take action themselves. The newfangled efforts have resulted in a Cydia Impactor alternative for macOS called AltDeploy by @pixelomer.

Electra Team ending support for the iOS 11-based Electra jailbreak

An announcement shared by Electra Team lead developer CoolStar on the team’s official Discord discussion group Saturday afternoon disclosed some unfortunate news for those using the iOS 11-centric Electra jailbreak tool.

From what we can gather, Electra has officially reached the EOL (end of life) stage of its development and will no longer receive any support from the Electra Team going forward:
