As Facebook continues advancing its mobile Messenger app, the company just announced in a blog post that users can now take advantage of a brand new integration to share their Dropbox files from within the mobile Messenger app.
The new feature is accessible through the More button in Messenger chats, where Dropbox is now listed as an available source. Simply tap the new icon to open the Dropbox app on your device and select cloud files that you'd like to share in a chat.
The popular mobile messaging service WhatsApp today received a pretty cool update in the App Store which adds the ability to share photos or videos from other apps installed on your iPhone via a new option exposed after tapping the Photo/Video Library button.
In addition, WhatsApp has gained a pair of new shortcuts in the 3D Touch menu on the Home screen and now supports solid colors as chat backgrounds.

Cloud storage startup Dropbox made a surprising announcement Monday, saying it will be shutting down Mailbox, the once popular app it acquired in March 2013, as well as Carousel, a photo-management app released in April 2014. Mailbox will be winding down on February 28, 2016 and Carousel is next on the chopping block on March 31, 2016.
This development doesn't surprise me: Mailbox for iOS has been receiving only compatibility updates post-acquisition while Mailbox for Mac hasn't dropped its beta flag since August 2014 debut of the first public beta (its current version number: 0.76).
Managing multiple projects in your Dropbox can be a pain when you need to quickly find that presentation you've been working on recently. While Dropbox's iPhone and iPad app has had a dedicated Recents tab since May of this year, it wasn't available through the web UI at dropbox.com.
Starting today, a Recents webpage is now available on dropbox.com so you can find what you need faster. Sadly, the Recents feature isn't cross-platform as of yet because Dropbox for Android lacks it, but the company assures us it's coming to that platform, too, “over the next few months”.

Red-hot cloud-storage startup Dropbox on Tuesday announced a new commenting system which permits anyone to provide some context and give helpful feedback on that shared presentation, photo, movie or other upload of yours.
The new feature is now accessible by everyone after Dropbox for Business early access users have been trying out commenting for the past month.
The ability to comment on shared files includes such perks as Twitter-like @mentions, reply notifications and more. The feature is currently available in Dropbox's web interface and should be accessible from mobile apps “soon”.

In the past, sending someone a link to a shared Dropbox document meant firing up the web interface, but not anymore. Starting today, tapping on a shared link from your iOS device opens the file in the Dropbox app.

Dropbox has snapped up CloudOn, a cloud-based Microsoft Office document editing application. The company said in a blog post announcing the deal that its more than 30 employees will be joining the Dropbox team and confirmed shutting down the service on March 15, 2015.
The free CloudOn iOS app, which launched in 2012, has been updated today with a note confirming the service will be no longer accepting new users as a result of the deal.
