Apple updates Find My Friends and Find My iPhone ahead of iOS 7 release

With less than three weeks left until Apple's big Fall reveal, the company has started updating some of its own apps on the App Store to bring them more in line with the all-new iOS 7 look.

Find My iPhone and Find My Friends apps have both been updated with bug fixes and stability improvements, but no new features have been added and the design remained unchanged.

Find My iPhone is particularly interesting. Not only has the update broken the app for non-developers, but the software now comes with a brand new flattened icon which essentially mimics its counterpart on the recently revamped iCloud Beta website. More findings right below...

Documents by Readdle gains drag-and-drop, Starred files and Photo Library integration

Documents by Readdle, along with the excellent Files app from German developer Sonico Mobile, are my go-to apps for managing files and documents on iOS devices in one central place. And while the latter has been lacking in terms of frequent updates, Readdle has today issued an update to its Documents software bringing three useful features to the party: drag-and-drop support, the ability to star files and integration with the iOS Photo Library...

Facebook updates Pages Manager with a bevy of new features

Facebook's Pages Manager mobile app has seen little action since May's 2.0 update which has brought it in line with popular features seen elsewhere, such as stickers and the omnipresent photo filters.

But don't worry, the software isn't going anywhere nor has the social networking giant forgotten about it. Matter of fact, Facebook's mobile team has just pushed an incremental 2.1 update to Pages Manager containing half a dozen tweaks and new capabilities.

For starters, you can now use the app to edit the cover photo of your Facebook Page, which previously required visiting the web interface. Additionally, the new Pages Manager now allows for the creation of a new Page in-app as well as events that are hosted by your Page (this is an iPhone-only feature).

Additional goodies are right after the break...

Yahoo back in May updated its popular Fantasy Football iOS client with mobile drafting and a slew of other new features and improvements to get you ready for the start of the 2013 NFL season. But if American football just isn't your thing, how about basketball? Or mixed martial arts? Or some other sport?

Don't worry, Yahoo's Sports iOS client (previously known as Sportacular) has you covered. In a new updated issued today, Yahoo has overhauled the software while adding the full MMA coverage, a range of scores, news and standings for the WNBA and more...

Netflix gains My List feature

Netflix today announced a new feature to make saving your favorite movies and televisions shows easier than ever. Aptly named My List, it lets you add any movie or TV show title to your own row or gallery on Netflix. You can easily rearrange the list, add or remove titles, with Netflix automatically sorting your entries.

It's based on the existing Instant Queue feature which however lacks automated sorting and its own Netflix row.

My List is a staggered roll-out that's launching worldwide in the next two weeks across multiple platforms, including iOS...

The winner of the 2013 Apple Design Award, the iPad illustration app Procreate by Savage Interactive has never ceased to amaze me with its natural-looking brushes, deep bench of features, its gorgeous interface and the incredibly accurate and smooth Silica painting engine.

Hot on the heels of Monday's introduction of Wacom's pressure-sensitive Intuos Creative Stylus for iPad, Savage has now updated the app with support for the new Wacom hardware.

Procreate version 1.9 also includes a powerful new capability: full HD canvas recording. Go past the fold for the full reveal...

Google+ for iOS kills in-app Messenger, adds Google Apps and Drive integration

After giving Google+ for Android its fair share of love earlier in the week, the Internet giant Google today pushed a new version of its universal iPhone and iPad app.

In accordance with the announcement back on Tuesday, the new build gets rid of the built-in Messenger feature as the focus turns to the new Hangouts app which was created to consolidate Google's many chat services under a single umbrella.

Google+ version 4.5 also features Google Apps domain support and lets you view, edit and share photos stored in your Google Drive...

Sports fans, rejoice: the freshly updated WatchESPN iOS app has been updated today with a cool new feature allowing for multitasking of sorts during live programming.

Vevo finally gets full AirPlay support as rumored Apple TV app looms

Vevo - a joint venture music video service operated by Sony Music Entertainment, Universal Music Group, Google and Abu Dhabi Media - has had a nifty iPhone and iPad app available on the App Store for quite some time now.

Thanks to a March update, it's gotten a whole lot more useful by bringing out a disruptive feature called Vevo TV, always-on broadcast music channels that turn your iOS device into the MTV jukebox for the 21st century.

Now, we heard whispers of a forthcoming Vevo Apple TV "app" said to enable 24/7 entertainment later this month. In the meantime, Vevo just pushed a nice little iOS app update which has finally enabled full AirPlay support on your iPhone, iPod touch and iPad devices...

Skype iOS apps now support HD quality video calls via iPad 4 and iPhone 5

Microsoft-owned Skype has been giving their iOS apps some much-needed love lately. For example, following June's announcement of Skype Video Messages, the company has updated mobile and desktop apps with the ability to record and send short videos to your contacts, even when offline. The feature was previously available with a 20-message limit and imposed a three-minute ceiling on the length of individual video messages.

Today, the iPhone and iPad Skype app has been updated with various call quality improvements and general fixes, including the ability to make HD quality 720p video calls from the latest and fastest iOS devices, such a the fourth-generation iPad and the iPhone 5...

CBS updates Sports iOS app with live video and native iPad interface

Sports fans know about the excellent Sports iPhone app from the U.S. broadcast network CBS. Unfortunately, for far too long has this nice piece of software remained an iPhone/iPod touch-only affair, with no native support for iPad devices.

In a 'better late than never' move, CBS has today issued a major version 6.0 update which for the first time brings the full tablet experience and live video to the iPad.

This means you can now check out on-demand video highlights of past games or tune in to live sporting events from your iPad and AirPlay the show to your TV set through the Apple TV set-top box...
