AltStore

Stay up-to-date with the latest news, releases, and tutorials about AltStore, an alternative App Store allowing you to sideload apps on your jailbroken or unjailbroken device. AltStore is the best way to install a semi-untethered jailbreak such as Odyssey or unc0ver.

AltStore updated to v1.4.8 to support installing the Fugu14 untether with the unc0ver jailbreak

After launching AltServer v1.4.7 this week with support for Apple’s new iOS & iPadOS 15.1 and macOS 12 Monterey mobile and desktop operating systems, project developer Riley Testut just this evening released an update for AltStore – the iOS & iPadOS app that complements AltServer to create a seamless app side-loading experience for iPhone and iPad users.

New AltStore beta available with preliminary support for side-loading apps on iOS 15

Last week’s WWDC 2021 Keynote address was chock-full of goodies for iPhone and iPad users, including iOS & iPadOS 15 and the new features they promise for these types of devices.

Developers and beta testers alike rushed to be among the first to download and install the iOS & iPadOS 15 betas after the Keynote ended. Shortly after, we learned that the popular AltStore side-loading platform didn’t work on iOS & iPadOS 15 and that it would necessitate an update to work with Apple’s upcoming operating systems.

CoolStar’s Taurine jailbreak for all iOS 14.0-14.3 devices officially released

Although the unc0ver jailbreak by Pwn20wnd was the first to implement support for iOS & iPadOS 14.0-14.3, those who’ve been patiently holding out for CoolStar’s iOS & iPadOS 14-based jailbreak instead are going to be in for a treat.

Steering away from the initial plan to launch an SSH-only iOS & iPadOS 14 jailbreak first before launching a full-fledged iOS & iPadOS 14 jailbreak afterward, CoolStar has instead decided to focus all efforts on the full-fledged option — the fruits of which are now available to the general public.

Alt5tore simplifies the process of updating unc0ver directly from the AltStore app

If like so many other jailbreakers out there, you depend on the unc0ver tool to keep your iPhone or iPad pwned, then we’ve got some good news for you – especially if you take advantage of AltStore to install unc0ver on your device.

As many AltStore users already know, the app hosts download links to some of Riley Testut’s software, including the Delta emulator app for various Nintendo-centric systems and the Clip clipboard manager. Both can both be installed with the tap of a button directly from the AltStore app as long as you’re connected to the same Wi-Fi network as AltServer on your computer.

ReProvision Reborn breathes new life into the discontinued on-device app provisioning software

Many jailbreakers were saddened when developer Matt Clarke reaffirmed that the ReProvision on-device app signing service that many used to keep their jailbreak apps signed without a computer wouldn’t receive any further official updates; not even to fix the post-January 28th app-crashing issue triggered by a server-side change on Apple’s behalf. It was henceforth officially EOL (end of life).

Riley Testut’s AltServer and AltStore combo offered a viable alternative to ReProvision, however it too was impacted by the same issue. The only difference? AltServer and AltStore received updates to address Apple’s server-side changes so that the end user wouldn’t suffer app crashes, while ReProvision did not. On the other hand, a third-party band-aid was later made available for ReProvision users.

Monitor the certificate time remainders of side-loaded jailbreak apps with IconCert 14

As a jailbreaker, I appreciate just how easy AltServer and AltStore make the process of side-loading semi-untethered jailbreak apps like Odyssey and unc0ver to my iPhones and iPads. On the other hand, it can be burdensome to keep track of how many more days those apps will work before they need to be signed again.

The AltStore app provides a handy native-style widget for iOS & iPadOS 14 devices that can help you keep track, but if you prefer something more conspicuous, then we think there’s a high likelihood that you’ll appreciate a newly released and free jailbreak tweak called IconCert 14 by iOS developer Hao Nguyen (haoict).

AltStore for iOS updated to version 1.4.5 with fixes for app (de-)activations

Whether you depend on AltServer and AltStore for jailbreaking your iPhone or iPad with unc0ver or Odyssey or you simply use it to side load your favorite apps on your handset more easily, we have some relevant news you won’t want to miss.

Version 1.4.5 of AltStore is now available for iPhones and iPads running iOS 12.2 or later, and if you’re already using AltStore, then you’re probably going to want to go ahead and grab this update.

AltStore and AltServer updated to v1.4.4 with iOS 14-centric bug fixes

Jailbreak apps such as Chimera, Odyssey, and unc0ver can be installed a bevy of different ways. Perhaps one of the most popular methods involves a software utility combination for macOS and Windows-based computers known as AltStore and AltServer. The latter runs as a process on the computer, facilitating the installation of the former alongside side-loadable apps on an iPhone or iPad running iOS or iPadOS 12.2 or later.

Both AltStore and AltServer occasionally receive updates with improvements and/or new features for users, and just this evening, the software duo were updated to version 1.4.4.
