This is my favorite time of the week. When we get to round up new apps and games that our faithful readers can check out for their weekend relaxation time. I’ve got my list ready for downloading. How about you?
Whether you are looking for some fun games to play, need a new photo editor, or are looking for new people to follow on Twitter, we’ve got a list of apps and games you might find to be enjoyable this weekend…
Rival Knights
Gameloft just released a new sporting game for fans of medieval times. Take the reigns as you speed down the path to victory as a knight of the crown at the King’s tournament to prove your mettle. The quality 3-D graphics will make you feel like you’re living the adventure. Motion-capture animation gives you every angle of the action as you prepare to un-mount your enemy. When you do send your foe flying, he will be tossed about using realistic ragdoll graphics with slow-motion effects. Unlock more than 120 mounts, lances, armor, and more. Upgrade your weapons to gain the advantage over your enemy. This game is available for free.
Tales of the Adventure Company
Time to head out on another long and dangerous adventure with your loyal traveling companions. This game combines puzzle solving, traditional role-playing adventures, and roguelike gameplay. Head into the unknown to battle minions, mobs, and all manner of evil, to save your friends from sure death. Follow the tale across five worlds, including graveyards, forests, wastelands, and more. There are 25 unique monsters, each with a different ability, 10 unique heroes that offer options for the type of raiding party you wish to command, and plenty of achievements and heroes to unlock. This game is available for $1.99.
Phantom Flower
If you are looking for a relaxing way to wind down at the end of a long workday, this app will bring the peaceful atmosphere you are looking for. The goal is to protect the flowers from the deadly red raindrops, which appears in random locations on the screen. Tap the red drops as they fall from the sky. You must destroy them before they hit the ground, or the dark flowers will die. As the game progresses, more red drops fall, making it harder to keep up. Sure, you’ll have your own tools to help you, but you can’t protect the Phantom Flowers forever. This game is available for free.
Camera Fx8 Free
Camera Fx8 is a photo-editing app that offers users lots of filters and frames for creating the perfect picture to share with others. Last week, it went free for a limited time. Apparently, the free version was popular enough to spark the launch of this perma-free version. It comes with 20 effects and filters, as well as editing tools for adjusting exposure, brightness, and more. Change the shape of your pictures, and not just squared. You can even turn your picture into a circle or octagon. There are 10 different shapes in all. Once you’ve edited your picture, send it to Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram with a tap. This app is available for free.
Tweet Seeker
These days, it is getting harder and harder to figure out what the heck Twitter is for. Most of us use it to tell you guys what we are writing about, or what apps have gone on sale. What do you use it for? If you like to search Twitter for specific topics, this app uses advanced search syntax and filtering system so you will find what you are looking for. You can also change the font and color of your feed for a customized look. You can save your searches for access at a later time, favorite tweets, and search across replies and mentions for the content you are looking for. This app is available for free.
99 Bricks Wizard Academy
If you are a fan of Tetris, you may want to give this title a closer look. It looks like a traditional block drop game on the surface, but what is under the hood is a whole lot more. Players build a tower using familiar shapes. Stack up your blocks as high as possible without tipping them over. Watch out for enemy wizards who will try to thwart your progress by changing blocks on you. Get helpful spells to land the perfect block for the most stability. Keep building your tower to the highest heights possible to win the most points. This game is available for $2.99.
Quadblast
For gamers more interested in classic fast-paced arcade games than re-imagining old school titles, then this game will have you on the seat of your pants. Use your iPhone’s gyroscope to control movement of your white orb. Swipe your finger across the screen to reposition your laser blaster. The goal is to clear the board of the black orbs without getting hit. Orbs appear in random places and times, so you’ve got to be quick on your feet to both avoid and destroy them. As the game progresses, the action becomes faster and you’ll be swiping and tilting like a madman. This game is available for free.
