As iPhone 4S units start arriving across the globe this week, expect to see several head-to-head comparison videos with top competitors. Some critics believe that the latest iPhone doesn't measure up to the competition, so it's time to find out for sure.

iCloud.com Updated, No Longer Marked “Beta”

Apple is in the middle of one of its busiest weeks in recent memory. It's releasing multiple major software updates, including iOS 5, and it's launching a major sync and storage service. Oh, and it has to deliver a million iPhone 4S orders by Friday.

Apple kickstarted the festivities yesterday afternoon by rolling out iTunes 10.5. Now the company has moved on to iCloud, giving the service's website a noticeable update. Along with a new login screen (above), iCloud.com also lost its 'beta' status...

iPad Responsible for 97% of All Tablet Traffic in the US

According to comScore, iOS accounts for the largest share of US smartphone and tablet devices while driving the majority of non-computer traffic. No surprise there, but the study also reveals that the iPad drives 97.2% of all tablet traffic...

Anyone who knows me knows that I'm a staunch Google Chrome advocate for basically two reasons: a) It's incredibly easy it is to restore all of your bookmarks, history, and extensions. And b). The OmniBar.

The OmniBar is the feature that I always end up missing the most when I'm forced to use another browser. The OmniBar is great, because it does something incredibly simple: It lets you perform searches and web queries from within the same box.

Safari UniBar is a jailbreak tweak that brings this same functionality to the iPhone's Mobile Safari...

For months, analysts and pundits have speculated that Apple will be unveiling two new iPhone models this year. One would be the usual model refresh, and the other would be a low-end smartphone to help make inroads with the prepaid market.

Saurik, the Creator of Cydia, Files Lawsuit to Win Cydia.com Domain [Updated With Comment From Saurik]

Jay Freeman, better known as Saurik, has filled a lawsuit in the hopes of obtaining rights to the Cydia.com domain name. Saurik owns Saurikit LLC, and he is filing his suit based on trademark infringement.

The owners of Cydia.com have refused to give Saurik rights to the domain in the past, and he proposes a viable complaint that users will be confused by the domain if it does not point to the infamous jailbreak store he created known as Cydia.

iPad Hits 1% of Global Web Browser Share, iPhone Equally Dominant

Apple's influence on internet usage worldwide continues to grow, with reports that the company's iPad now accounts for 1% of the planet's web browsing usage.

The figure is even more impressive when narrowed down to just browsing inside the United States, with fully 2.1% being the magic number.

According to the latest NetMarketShare report, mobile browsing in general has now topped 5%, or 8.2% in the United States...

New York Post’s Website Blocking Mobile Safari, iPad App the Winner

If you're a New York Post reader and like to read your news via NYPost.com on an iPad, then you could find the process a little more complicated than it used to be. The newspaper has blocked access to its website from Apple's Mobile Safari browser.

In a clear attempt to push users away from the NYPost website and towards the iPad app. The New York Post's homepage now suggests users tootle off to the App Store if they want to get their news fix on Apple's super-successful tablet...

Web App Performance in iOS 5 Greatly Improved

Web app performance in iOS 4 has been disappointing. It's been speculated that Apple has been intentionally handicapping web app performance in iOS 4. When websites are launched from the iPhone's homescreen, loading times become much longer than when a site is opened straight from the Mobile Safari app.

In iOS 5, it's been discovered that fullscreen web apps from the homescreen can access the Nitro Javascript engine that sped up Mobile Safari in iOS 4.3. These "dynamic-codesigning" privileges allow for a much faster web app experience in iOS 5.

New in iOS 5: ‘Find on Page’ Search from iPad Keyboard

The "Find on Page" feature in Safari isn't new, as it was introduced with iOS 4.2. Up until iOS 5, to use this feature, you had to tap the “Google” search bar at the top right and start typing. As Google gave you suggestions, you also had the “on this page” option appearing at the bottom.
