Roundup

Aria 2, MeetingDnd, and other jailbreak tweaks to check out

On the eve of the release of iOS 9, we can't help but feel concerned about the future of jailbreaking. Will rootless make this an impossible thing? Is there such thing as impossible when talking about software though? We've seen encouraging signs from iH8sn0w this week, but only time will tell if this something that will actually happen, especially in regards to new devices being shipped.

In the meantime, let's enjoy what we have now, as there is a number of interesting tweaks that were released this past week.

New iPhones, iPads and Apple TV: a roundup of today’s announcements

That's all, folks. Apple's highly anticipated 'Hey Siri' event has come and gone. All announcements have been made, all products have been unveiled, and we finally got a glimpse of long-rumored, top secret Apple projects like the super-sized iPad Pro and the new Apple TV.

A lot has happened in the last several hours, and we understand it can be difficult to keep track of everything throughout the day. So as usual, we've put together an awesome roundup of everything important you need to know from today's event and subsequent reports.

13 tweaks to check out this weekend

We're just days away from Apple unveiling new iOS devices and likely providing an official launch date for iOS 9. With new software come new challenges, and of course the continuation of the cat and mouse game. If rumors hold true, a jailbreak for iOS 9 might never happen. We shall see, I guess. In the meantime, let's enjoy what we have now.

What we can expect from Apple’s September 9 event

As it has done for the past few years, Apple is gearing up for a major media event this month. In late August, the company sent out invitations for an event taking place on Wednesday, September 9, at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco.

The teaser tagline on the invite reads "Hey Siri, give us a hint," but otherwise, Apple has been silent regarding its plans for the keynote. Never fear, though, as months of rumors, reports and component leaks have given us a pretty good idea of what to expect.

Tweaks of the week: FutureLock, MusicScroller, SimpleReach, and more

Another interesting week for the jailbreak community. Despite the reports of thousands of iCloud account being compromised by some shady jailbreak tweaks installed from some shady repos you've probably never heard of, we've seen some good tweaks being released in Cydia.

In case you don't want to scroll through dozens and dozens of packages, we round up all the new jailbreak tweaks that appeared this week on Cydia.

17 tweaks to check out this weekend

As I am preparing this roundup of new jailbreak apps and tweaks, I realize that what I'm actually doing is taking the pulse of the jailbreak community. Some weeks it's slow. Some weeks it beats fast. This roundup is very much a way to not only see what's new, but also how healthy the community is. Right now it's doing pretty good!

15 interesting points from Apple’s Q3 2015 earnings call

Apple announced its financial results for its fiscal third quarter of 2015 this afternoon, and the numbers are solid. The company sold 47.5 million iPhones and earned $49.6 billion in revenue, breaking June quarter records and beating Wall Street expectations.

We just finished up the conference call, where Tim Cook and other executives discussed Apple’s performance over the three-month period, and offered up some insights into its future. And as usual, we’ve rounded up the 15 most interesting points from the call below.

New jailbreak tweaks: what a week that was

It seems that the latest iOS 8.4 jailbreak has reinvigorated developers and drove them to update and release new tweaks in masses. This week is one of the most busy on in terms of releases that we've seen in a while, and we're not complaining. Quite the contrary!

The iOS 8.4 jailbreak roundup

To state that today has been busy would be an egregious understatement. Actually, the last two weeks have been downright insane with releases.

As you're likely aware of by now, Apple dropped iOS 8.4 today with the new Apple Music service. This has proved to wildly popular, and many, including yours truly, didn't hesitate to ditch the iOS 8.3 jailbreak for iOS 8.4. I personally did so knowing that the likelihood of an iOS 8.4 jailbreak was very high given the timing.

Well, not a few hours after 8.4 went live and everyone was enjoying the new Beats 1 radio station, news began to spread that a jailbreak was released. That, as it turns out, was true. The rest, as they say, is history.

Here's our full roundup of the iOS 8.4 jailbreak. As we did with iSO 8.3, anything related to this firmware from a jailbreak perspective will be contained in this post.

The jailbreak tweaks of the week

In what seems to be the most uneventful week we've had in a long time, we saw the release of only a handful of tweaks, and nothing to really call home about.

Columba was the talk of the town, but those who tried it quickly came to the conclusion it doesn't hold a candle to biteSMS, a tweak it claims to be a replacement for.

Browsing through the new jailbreak apps and tweaks of this week won't take you long...

The best minimalist cases for iPhone 6

We’ve been writing about a variety of accessories for the iPhone 6 for the past few months. These posts are to let you know what is out there so you can make better-informed decisions when choosing what to buy.

This is an accessory round up of what we believe are some of the best minimalist iPhone 6 cases we've been spotlighting lately. If you don't see your favorite one on the list, feel free to add it in the comments section.

Tweaks of the week: ControlF, QuickUnlock, and more

Even if news of a jailbreak for iOS 8.3 has been floating around, we shouldn't yell victory too soon. As far as I'm concerned, I won't get excited until there is tangible evidence that this is indeed happening. In the meantime, we can all look at we can use right now, namely a bunch of tweaks that have recently been released on Cydia.
