On Wednesday August 26, 2026, Apple’s team announced the upcoming September event, titled “Surprise and shine.” The event is set to launch on live stream at 10am Pacific Time on Wednesday, September 9. As with historical September Apple events, the expectation is new iPhone devices will be announced at the event, along with releases of new hardware. ’Surprise and Shine’ Event Wallpaper

The upcoming event is said to unveil Apple’s first folding iPhone device, many are calling the “iPhone Ultra.” While the Samsung Z Fold 8 is quickly becoming a popularly discussed topic, it is very possible the anticipation of a “passport sized” iPhone device is immanent for release. It is said the iPhone Ultra will be smaller and wider than any previous generation Apple handset devices and unfold into a screen size approximately similar to the current iPad mini. Recent discussions about iPhone apps being modifiable by size also leads to pre-confirmations that Apple will allow for iPad-like app-resizing abilities.
Alongside the iPhone Ultra, iPhone 18 devices are expected, but perhaps only ‘Pro’ models. A majority of any stream-time for the event will undoubtedly be given to the iPhone Ultra and the base-iPhone 18 is said to be left for a spring launch with the iPhone 18e model. This would also allow Apple to spread out earnings by launch upgraded iPhones twice per year. Additional announcements may include updated HomePods, a doorbell, security camera, and a HomePod-like device with a screen.
