Alleged iPhone 5 Case Hints at Buttonless Device, Curved Back, Bigger Screen

A new prototype case for the alleged iPhone 5 has leaked via a Chinese accessory manufacturer working in conjunction with Foxconn. This case design comes from MobileFun, a UK-based site that claims to have received this information through its supply chain sources overseas.

If this alleged case design for the upcoming iPhone 5 is representative of the rumored device's design, there will be several major aesthetic changes made to Apple's next iPhone— a curved back, larger screen, and possibly even a totally buttonless design...

New Voice Command Assistant Feature Uncovered in iOS 5 Beta 4

In what is probably the biggest find since Apple unveiled iOS 5 to the world last month, 9to5Mac unveiled a major hidden feature in the new firmware last night. Remember when Apple purchased that little voice recognition app named "Siri" last year?

Well, it looks like their work is finally going to start showing up in iOS, as an OS-level feature called Assistant now exists in Beta 4. If you've been wondering what happened to all of that talk about Apple implementing a native voice-command system in iOS 5, you're going to love this...

Next-gen iPad Component Leaked?

It's crazy to me that the iPad 2 just launched 6 months ago, and already there seems to be a slew of iPad 3 rumors flying about. Personally, I can't picture Apple launching another tablet this year, but we've been hearing all kinds of gossip that suggests otherwise.

The word on the street is that Apple is looking to release a 3rd iPad this fall. The device is expected to have double the screen resolution of the iPad 2, and will be geared toward the "Pro" crowd in need of a sharper display...

Former Flextronics Executive Pleads Guilty to iPad and iPhone Leaks

Ah, the illustrious Apple rumor mill. It seems like every time the Cupertino company is expected to (even when they're not) announce a new product, the entire web is buzzing with the latest Apple gossip.

Typically, we disregard the articles with titles that begin with "analyst claims." It seems like everyone and their dog has their own "source" inside Apple's never-ending supply chain.

But every once in a while, the tipster is legitimate. Why doesn't it happen very often? Because the people that really do give away information regarding Apple's secret projects go to jail...

Leaked Photo of iPhone 5 Prototype Running on China Mobile [Updated]

We actually haven't seen too many "leaked photos" of Apple's next smartphone over the last few weeks. We've seen some really cool concepts of what the device might look like, but nothing claiming to be the actual device.

Today, 9to5Mac passes along this photo, of what appears to be the next iPhone, that has been circling the gadget blogs this morning. Though the photo doesn't offer much information regarding the design of the device, the mysterious gadget does seem to be running a version of iOS...

JailbreakMe 3.0 to Drop Today or Tomorrow?

It's been a seemingly endless saga as Comex prepares his upcoming jailbreak tool for the iPad 2. JailbreakMe 3.0 has been expected to drop any day now for the past few weeks, but several speed bumps and unexpected turns have kept the userland jailbreak from getting released.

This past weekend, JailbreakMe 3.0's exploit was leaked online in an attempt to hurry up Comex's official release. Some people were able to get to the download links in time (before they were pulled) and successfully jailbreak the iPad 2 on iOS 4.3.

Thanks to a string of alleged emails between Comex and MultiMediaWill (the guy that leaked JailbreakMe 3.0), the latest rumor pegs JailbreakMe's relaunch for tomorrow...

iPhone 4 Prototype Hits eBay, Sets Our Hearts Aflutter [Updated]

Prototype Apple hardware has a habit of turning up on eBay, so we're not entirely surprised to see another of the company's finest show up for auction.

The latest prototype of Apple's to appear on the popular auction site is an iPhone 4 that, at least according to appearances, is a prototype of the handset we've all grown to love since its launch in June of last year...

The Real Story Behind the iPad 2 Jailbreak Leak

Most of you know by now that Comex's long-awaited iPad 2 jailbreak was leaked yesterday. As the hacker was putting the finishing touches on JailbreakMe 3.0, the PDF exploit was leaked to the world. Someone publicly posted the new JailbreakMe files, and the links spread around the web like wildfire.

The original story iDB heard was that a trusted beta tester leaked the files. That would have meant Comex was betrayed by someone he trusted, adding insult to injury. We have since learned that this is not what actually happened. Here's the real story behind the iPad 2 jailbreak leak...

LulzSec’s Leaked Law Enforcement Documents Reveal iPhone App Training

Lulz Security, commonly referred to as LulzSec, has been causing all sorts of chaos around the web for the past few months. The team of hackers is responsible for a number of recent attacks, including posting a fake news story on PBS.com and knocking the CIA's website offline.

Though their recent attacks have been fairly harmless, their most recent break-in has made a lot of folks nervous. Last Thursday, LulzSec published more than 700 confidential documents stolen from the Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS).

The 440MB of data included emails, handbooks, images and other sensitive files, some of which revealed the identities of Arizona Law Enforcement. In sifting through the data, Techland uncovered a form particularly interesting to iDB entitled "iPhone apps- used against officers.doc"

Project Spartan – Facebook’s Preparing to Take on the App Store

TechCrunch has been spilling the beans on Facebook's entire 2011 roadmap over the last few days. It appears that someone inside the social networking company has been sending the site information regarding top secret Facebook projects.

We've already told you about the new Facebook photo sharing app, but some even more interesting stuff has developed since then. Ladies and gentleman, allow me to introduce Project Spartan...

What It’s Like to Work at the Apple Store

Apple stores are world-renowned beacons of retail success. Their architectural design and aesthetic feel set Apple apart from 99% of the retail market. When you walk into an Apple store, the atmosphere is bright, airy, clean, and filled with happy geeks that are willing to assist you.

But what's life like behind the white and metallic walls that house Apple's retail employees? The Wall Street Journal has combed through leaked Apple training manuals and interviewed former Apple employees. Here are some of the findings...

Leaked Screenshot of iOS 5 With New Notifications?

It's the eve of Apple's annual WWDC conference, and we knew that a "leak" was bound to get out sooner or later. Very rarely does an Apple event occur without some sort of unconfirmed tidbit that gets leaked the night before.

This time, it appears that TechCrunch may have got its hands on what looks to be a new system of notifications in iOS 5. You should be very skeptical of this picture, but it still makes for fun speculation...
