Carriers Caught Testing LTE-Flavored iPhones

All of the information surrounding the iPhone 5 up to this point has suggested that Apple's next smartphone will not be LTE-capable, even though the platform currently powers Verizon's 4G network, and will soon drive AT&T's.

There's been several reasons for tech pundits and analysts to write the feature off from Apple's upcoming device, but as Alex reminded us yesterday, we really don't know anything for sure. On that note, BGR just posted evidence that an iPhone with LTE is currently in testing...

I think most of you folks will recall the infamous iPhone 4 debacle that occurred last Spring. Months before the device's official release, an Apple engineer left his test unit at a bar in San Jose, California.

Not only did someone pick it up, but they negotiated a deal to sell the thing to Gizmodo. As serious as Apple is about secrecy, and given Steve Jobs' passionate temper, a lot of folks figured this kid wouldn't live through the weekend...

I know we've said this before, but these renderings of what Apple's upcoming smartphone may look like may truly be some of the best we've seen. The iPhone 5 is one of the most anticipated devices in recent years, and artists have made several attempts to predict its design.

But this particular concept wasn't constructed from pure imagination. No, this design was built using the measurements from the leaked cases that we've seen floating around. Given that case leaks have been fairly accurate in the past, could this really be what the next iPhone looks like?

In the weeks building up to this year's WWDC, there was a lot of speculation that Apple and Nuance were planning a major partnership to bring system-wide voice-to-text to iOS 5. The 2 companies were expected to make a big announcement at the Summer event.

But the developer's conference came and went with no mention of the new feature. Then we started to see code trickle in. Found deep inside Apple's new firmware, the evidence suggested that the company was still working on bringing voice-to-text to its customers this Fall.

It's no secret that posting a purposed "spy shot" of Apple's upcoming smartphone will bring all of the skeptics out of the woodwork. Perhaps it has something to do with the fact that the photos have a tendency to be a little on the fake side.

Advances in image-editing software have made producing a realistic-looking "leaked photo" extremely easy. How easy? Jesus Diaz of Gizmodo made the above image in under 10 minutes...

You know Apple is about to launch a new product when spy photos of the device start surfacing in bunches. Last week 9to5Mac posted a blurry snapshot of a purposed iPhone 5 in the wild, but most folks wrote it off as a 3GS.

Today, MacRumors posted another foggy photo of what could be Apple's next smartphone. The image depicts a device that seems to match up with some of the rumors we've heard regarding the iPhone 5's design, and is believed to have been taken in the office of a French carrier...

More White iPod Touch Parts Surface

Last week we brought you some photos, published by 9to5Mac, of a possible next-gen iPod Touch part. The piece was particularly interesting because it was white. As you might know, previous versions of the iPod Touch have always been black with a stainless steel backing.

Now, the same blog that brought us the original photos of the white iPod Touch casing has gotten its hands on more pictures. While the original snapshots were taken in Asian, close to Apple's manufacturing plants, these new pics come from here in America...

It would seem like the iPhone 5 rumor mill has been in full swing over the past few days. We've seen everything from cases to concepts. Now, 9to5Mac is claiming they have pictures of the real thing.

The same blog that brought us the leaked photos of the purported iPhone 5 case has just published a photo of what they believe to be Apple's next smartphone. It certainly fits the typical "leaked photo" criteria, as it's extremely blurry and hard to make out. Could this really be the iPhone 5?

Alleged iPhone “Lite” Leaked Online, And It’s Jailbroken

Take this one with a huge grain of salt, but TechCrunch is reporting that it's received leaked shots of a "light version of the iPhone 4." These pictures of what looks very much like a jailbroken iPhone 4 come from Tinhte, and TechCrunch makes the point that Tinhte got a white iPhone 4 prototype right with a leaked video back in April.

This iPhone 4 prototype is made of a cheaper build quality, and it matches up pretty well with a couple iPhone 5 case leaks that we reported on yesterday. However, the device doesn't seem to be any smaller than the current iPhone 4...

9to5Mac just published photos of what they believe to be an actual iPhone 5 case. The accessory matches previous reports that Apple's next smartphone will sport a thinner design, with a curved back and a larger display...
