iPhone 5 to Get an 8MP Camera?

At this point of time, the question is not if the iPhone 5 will get an 8MP camera, but rather who is going to be the supplier. Earlier last month, Sony CEO dropped a bombshell by saying his company was going to work with Apple and provide them with camera sensors.

Today, DigiTimes is reporting that one of their "sources" claim that Largan Precision, a Taiwanese manufacturer of camera lenses for various phone makers is expecting a large order from Apple to supply them with 8 megapixels modules...

Another iPhone 5 Leak Points Towards a Separated Flash

It looks like we have another snapshot of an iPhone 5 component circling the web. These leaked photographs of next-generation iPhone parts have become very popular lately.

I guess it makes sense though. With so much evidence pointing to a September launch, it's logical that manufacturing companies just recently started receiving designs for the new device and are gearing up to start production...

France Telecom CEO Hints at “Smaller and Thinner” iPhone with Smaller SIM Card

In a recent interview, the CEO of French Telecom/Orange, Stephane Richard, dropped some hits towards a "smaller and thinner" iPhone 5 with a different SIM card design. Instead of the traditional method, Apple has apparently agreed with wireless carriers to support a smaller and more lightweight SIM for the next iPhone.

Practically, this smaller SIM card would make the iPhone thinner. There is also the possibility that such a SIM card could work in tandem with the rumored 'global device' that Apple could release this year.

About This 64GB iPhone…

Yesterday we reported on a memo from Russell Cellular, a third-party Verizon retailer that mentioned something about a 64GB iPhone. Most of us got very excited at the idea of more storage on the iPhone. "Finally, I'm going to be able to store all my music on my iPhone", I said to myself.

It seems that we got our hopes too high for this as Russell Cellular confirmed it was just a typo, as we kind of expected. Disappointed much?

iPhone 5 to Feature a Curved Glass Screen?

According to DigiTimes, Apple is looking into introducing curved glass screens in future iPhones. The technology isn't new, and Apple itself has been using this for their iPod Nano line for a while now, so they do have experience with the design and manufacturing process.

Because it is so expensive and risky to make curved glass screens, a lot of manufacturers simply don't do it. Instead of relying on manufacturers for that, Apple, who's sitting on a huge pile of cash, has been heavily investing in its own 200-300 glass cutting machines to be used by glass makers...

Expect iPhone 5 to Ship in September

As the industry tries to reach some sort of consensus on when Apple will release the next generation iPhone 5, another report affirms the growing possibility of a September launch.

Famed analyst, Gene Munster, has offered the most logical explanation to date for an iPhone 5 announcement this fall. We've already heard analyst after analyst claim varying ship dates and reasons for a certain time frame, but Munster's reasoning seems the most legitimate...

Beware: Malware and Phishing Emails Pose as Apple and iPhone 5

Spam emails are circulating that pose as Apple trying to sell new products, including the rumored iPhone 5. According to MacRumors, several reports have come in that talk of an "iPhone 5GS" product launch in a very Apple-like email.

Apple's products have always been used in spam and advertising to get click-throughs, but this round of spam sets itself apart with its striking resemblance to Apple's own design. If you've ever received an email from Apple, you'll notice how similar these spam messages are to the legit ones from Cupertino...

Next iPhone Rumored to Have 64GB Capacity

As the suspected launch date for the next iPhone draws near, the rumors continue to pile up. Here is another one to add to the pile.

In several memos from Verizon, a rumor leaked of possible capacities for the next iPhone. The memo mentioned 32 and 64GB capacities. The 32GB version would obviously be the same size as the larger of the current models, but the 64 would be new...

5 Things I’d Really Love to See From The Next iPhone

There's been all sorts of mutters, speculations, and guesses surrounding the next iPhone. Some of the ideas sound great, while others sound pretty terrible.

Needless to say I think we all have our own personal wish list of things that we would like to see on the next iPhone, so I thought I'd share with you a few of mine. Obviously, these are just wishes, not necessarily realities, but hey, it's nice to dream, isn't it?

My first wish for the next iPhone is none other than...

LTE-Enabled iPhone Won’t Be Seen Until 2012

Following other reports that Apple won't introduce an LTE-enabled iPhone until at least 2012, Digitimes has chimed in to affirm that there won't be an iPhone introduced with 4G speeds this year.

Besides the fact that Apple stated it wasn't planning on LTE adoption in the near future, the industry has indicated that bringing 4G to the iPhone simply isn't feasible right now. After the fifth generation iPhone is released this fall, it is expected that the sixth generation iPhone will have LTE support in 2012.

iPhone 4 Production Slows in Anticipation of Next Gen Device in August

Apple has slowed production and lowered its expected shipment volume of the GSM and CDMA iPhone 4. This move is expected to correlate with a new iPhone release in September, with production of the new device starting in August.

The dubbed 'iPhone 4S' is expected to have an 8 megapixel camera made by OmniVision and Largan Precision. It is also rumored to sport a A5 dual-core processor with support for T-Mobile and Sprint...

Apple Installing NFC Payment Systems in their Retail Stores?

We've heard several rumors that the next iPhone will have Near Field Communications (NFC) abilities. Apple itself added fuel to the gossip-fire when it publicly announced the hiring of NFC expert Benjamin Vigier. NFC technology can handle anything from unlocking car doors, to wirelessly paying for goods and services.

It's expected to be the future of mobile payment systems and has already been imbedded in multiple Android phones. Many folks have been back and forth on whether or not Apple would include NFC in its next iteration of the iPhone, but BGR seems to be pretty confident that it will...
