Minimal action game Super Hexagon goes free within Apple Store shopping app

Apple is giving away free copies of Super Hexagon, a minimal action game by Terry Cavanagh, with music by Chipzel. This nicely done iPhone and iPad game is being provided as a free download exclusively through the official Apple Store shopping app.

“Be challenged by the difficult yet beautiful gameplay of Super Hexagon,” writes Apple. “Survive as long as you can through endless levels of minimalist puzzles.”

EA silently pulls nearly two dozen classic iPhone and iPad games from App Store

Electronics Arts, the world's top developer and publisher of video games and one of the most prolific makers of mobile games for the iPhone and iPad, has quietly removed a bunch of classic iOS titles from both the App Store and Google's Play store.

As first reported by TouchArcade, hit games such as the original Real Racing, Need for Speed Shift, Flight Control, Mass Effect: Infiltrator and many more can no longer be purchased in the App Store, nor will they be supported going forward.

Popular sketch app Paper, by FiftyThree, received an enormous update today, bringing the software to version 3.0. As expected, the new release brings about iPhone support, as well as several other new features like swipe-to-style notes and annotation tools.

Once seen as a casual sketch app, Paper now seems more like a catch-all brainstorming and note-taking app in version 3. It allows you to capture images, draw on them using the built-in tools, add custom text, and then share your creation in a variety of ways.

Apple seeds iOS 9.1 beta 1 to public testers

Following the release of iOS 9.1 beta 1 to developers, Apple on Thursday seeded the first beta of iOS 9.1 to public testers. The software is available either over-the-air, for those running the latest iOS 9 beta, or via Apple's Beta Software Program website.

As announced yesterday, iOS 9.1 will bring about new features for the just-announced iPad Pro, such as support for Apple's new Smart Keyboard and Pencil accessories. The update also includes support for Unicode 8, which will add several new emoji.

Following Apple's action-packed media event yesterday which saw introductions of the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus smartphones with 3D Display technology, the new iPad Pro with Apple Pencil, the much improved Apple TV and more, both Sony and Samsung took to social media to poke fun of Apple's latest innovation.

As you may have guessed, Samsung especially took swipes at Apple's stylus, which isn't surprising given Steve Jobs' famous “If you see a stylus, they blew it” quote and the fact the Galaxy maker pioneered stylus-enhanced phablets with its Note lineup.

Adobe inadvertently leaks iPad Pro has 4GB of RAM

In addition to our discovery yesterday that the new Apple TV has 2GB of RAM, Adobe has inadvertently leaked that the iPad Pro has twice the RAM of the iPad Air 2, which has 2GB of RAM.

A press release published yesterday, which highlights its new Creative Cloud mobile apps, specifically mentions four gigabytes of RAM on the iPad Pro.

“iPad Pro is great for creative workflows with a high res 12.9″ touch screen display at 2732 x 2048 pixels, A9X chip, and 4GB RAM,” reads the press release. Soon thereafter, Adobe has updated the press release to no no longer mention 4GB of RAM.
