Our Expectations for WWDC 2011

On the eve of the 2011 World Wide Developers Conference, magic is in the air. The Apple rumor mill has been churning, and Mac OS X Lion, iOS 5 and iCloud are all confirmed topics of discussion for tomorrow's keynote. Steve Jobs himself will be presenting, and the industry eagerly awaits to see how Apple will revolutionize the market.

AT&T Running Out of Black iPhone 4, iPhone 5 Coming Out Soon?

Wow oh oh. This is probably the most exciting news of the day, even though it doesn't look like much on the surface. If you look at AT&T's website right now, you'll see that they are running out of black iPhone 4s.

They do have the white iPhone 4, and they even have refurbished black iPhone 4, but no new ones. What can that possibly mean? Maybe a new iPhone 5 coming out real soon?

Will the Next iPhone Have 4G on AT&T Only?

Despite launching on Verizon just this February, one analyst believes Apple could be about to ditch the carrier for a second time and launch its next iPhone with 4G compatibility on AT&T only.

Todd Rethemeier, an analyst at Hudson Square Research, has ignored recent speculation that claims the fifth-generation iPhone will be called the 'iPhone 4S' and will skip 4G wireless support, and claims in his report the next device will instead be called the 'iPhone 5', boasting 4G compatibility and leaving Verizon behind...

Poll: Do You Think Apple Will Unveil the iPhone 5 Next Week?

Apple is having its annual WWDC event next Monday and we already know that Steve Jobs is going to be there to announce the company's new iCloud service as well as the long expected iOS 5.

Rumors about a possible iPhone 5 launch are going crazy. If there is a big unknown for the WWDC, it is Apple's next flagship device. With conflicting reports, it's hard to tell whether or not we'll have a new iPhone this summer...

Rumor: iPhone 4S This Summer With A5 Chip, 8MP Camera, GSM/CDMA Support, Integrated SIM

With WWDC right around the corner, the last, pre-summer iPhone rumors are coming in fast and strong. The latest one seems a little far fetched, but it does make some interesting claims about hardware announcements we'll see from Apple this year.

Instead of an iPhone release this fall, Macotakara claims that the 'iPhone 4S' will be released this summer, and that the iPhone 5 will be released in spring of 2012. The iPhone 4S will supposedly be a minor upgrade from the iPhone 4 (like the 3G/3GS), while the iPhone 5 will be a complete revamp. Sound crazy to you?

Samsung Demands to See Apple’s Next iPhone and iPad

Samsung has filed a motion to Apple requesting to see the iPhone 5 and iPad 3. According to This is My Next, Samsung's lawyers want to get their hands on the iPhone 4S/5 and iPad 3 to see if Apple's future products are similar to Samsung's future devices, like the Droid Charge and Galaxy Tab 10.1.

Apple and Samsung have already been at each other's throats in the courtroom over claims of playing 'copycat' in product design. Apple sued Samsung for copying the "look and feel" of the iPhone and iPad, and now Samsung says that “fundamental fairness” requires Apple to turn over its upcoming devices for product comparison...

Will the iPhone Nano Look Like This?

Talk of a cheaper, perhaps contract-free 'iPhone Nano' has been circulating for several months now. With WWDC on the near horizon, and an iPhone announcement expected this fall, there's plenty of speculation surrounding Apple's next gen iPhone.

Will Apple release the typical, evolutionary upgrade to the current iPhone 4? Or will things get changed up with two new iPhone models released at once?

Apple Looking to Improve Outdoor Screen Visibility?

Have you ever tried to look at your screen through a pair of sunglasses, only to find yourself staring at a black or distorted display? Most mobile devices suffer from this problem, which can make them nearly unusable in broad daylight.

While product innovation and screen protectors have improved screen visibility, it's still an issue. AppleInsider is reporting that Apple has done some serious investigating, and might have a solution to the "glaring" problem...

Google Unveils Google Wallet, Apple Sits and Learns

Earlier today, Google unveiled yet another product: Google Wallet. Very simply said, Google Wallet is the result of a partnership that will allow Google to have NFC (Near Field Communication) built in most of upcoming Android devices.

For those of you who don't know, NFC is a wireless technology, which among other usages, will allow you to replace your credit card with your smartphone. Sounds awesome, doesn't it?

So The Leaked iPhone 5 Photo Might Have Been Taken With…An iPhone 5?

I'm ashamed that I didn't notice this detail before, but props to the eagle eyed Kurt178 and Appman over at iFans for noticing the details.

When you take a look at the leaked shot of what is purportedly an iPhone 5 back plate, it appears that it was snapped with an iPhone...just not any iPhone currently in production.

The phone's reflection shows what looks to be a camera opposite from the flash, incidentally, just like the item that is being captured on camera.

Apparently, some Photoshop magic was used in order to better highlight the device in the reflection, rendering it pretty easy to spot...

The Great Measures Apple Took to Keep Verizon iPhone a Secret

Although the iPhone 4 was already 7 months old when it launched on the Verizon network, Apple still went to great lengths to keep the CDMA version of the device a secret. Learning from its mistakes it made with the iPhone 4 prototype last year, Apple set strict rules and implemented tight security measures to ensure it didn't happen again.

Verizon staff weren't authorized to field test the device until just two weeks before its launch, after signing non-disclosure agreements promising they wouldn't let details slip. Those entrusted to test the device weren't allowed to call it an "iPhone" – it was given the code-name "ACME" and that's what it had to be called…

Rumor: iPhone 4S to be Shown Off at WWDC After All?

If you've been keeping up with the iPhone 4S and 5 rumors, you'll recall that almost all of the evidence so far has pointed to a later-than-normal refresh this year. From supply line checks to industry insiders, everyone is pegging the next-gen iPhone to launch in September.

Maybe that's just what Apple wants you to think. Rumor or not, this is the first bit of speculation we've seen in a while that points to a hardware announcement at Apple's WWDC event next month. Could it be true?
