Want better looking pop-ups in the Apple Music app? Try MusicBanners

Apple Music is by far one of the most popular ways to stream music on the iOS & iPadOS platforms. This statement remains true even regarding users of jailbroken handsets.

Jailbreakers who want to upgrade their user experience in the Apple Music app are in luck this Tuesday morning thanks to a new and free jailbreak tweak dubbed MusicBanners by iOS developer level3tjg, as it effectively replaces the Apple Music app’s ugly center-screen HUD pop-ups with something nicer.

YouAreThere keeps the YouTube app from nagging jailbreakers with AFK prompts

If you’ve decided to commit to watching a lengthy video on YouTube, then you might eventually find yourself greeted by a pop-up that asks if you’re still actually watching the video you’re playing.

The pop-up not only pauses your video playback, but asks if you’d like to continue watching it. Users can tap “Yes” to continue, however it’s a somewhat annoying circumstance to deal with if you’re just getting into something good and YouTube automatically pauses your playback.

Jailbreak tweaks of the week: uYou, visum WiFiNameBugFix, & more…

The jailbreak community is entering its annual lull as we prepare for the public release of iOS & iPadOS 15 this Fall, but that doesn't mean that jailbreak developers aren't pumping out interesting and useful jailbreak tweaks.

In this piece, we'll showcase all the latest jailbreak tweaks and jailbreak-based news from this past week, spanning Monday, July 5th to Sunday, July 11th.

Get weather information on your jailbroken iPhone’s Lock Screen with visum

iPhone users that want to know more about the weather outside have a couple of options: 1) view the Weather widget; or 2) open the Weather app.

Even as we approach the upcoming iOS 15 release, it’s somewhat upsetting to reflect upon how the iPhone still doesn’t display weather information on the Lock Screen, as it would provide users with valuable information without unlocking their handset.

Command your iPhone’s Control Center in new ways with ShyCC

Control Center is something I take advantage of on a daily basis, whether for turning on Do Not Disturb, Low Power Mode, or toggling my iPhone’s wireless radios on or off.

While I’ve come to realize the convenience of Control Center, I also recognize that the gesture can sometimes get in the way, especially when playing full-screen games in landscape mode.

WiFiNameBugFix protects jailbreakers from the newly discovered malformed Wi-Fi name bug

Another notable bug was discovered and publicized just over the weekend by security researcher Carl Schou in which the presence of a malformed Wi-Fi network name, also known as the SSID, could ‘permanently’ disable an iPhone’s ability to view and connect to nearby Wi-Fi networks. It’s not the first time a Wi-Fi name glitch has affected iPhones, which understandably raises some eyebrows.

Citing the security researcher, the bug would be triggered if the iPhone comes within range of a Wi-Fi network or personal hotspot with the offending name or SSID. Consequently, the Settings app’s Wi-Fi toggle switch becomes disabled and grayed out, preventing the user from turning it back on. Not even resetting the iPhone’s network settings fixes this, compelling the iPhone owner to effectively restore the device to factory settings.

TweakCount provides jailbreakers with a summary of installed tweaks & extensions

If you go overboard on jailbreak tweak installations like I do sometimes, then it may serve you well to keep a tally of how many you have installed at any given time.

Doing this manually would be a painstaking and tedious process, but with the help of a newly released and free jailbreak tweak subtly named TweakCount by iOS developer LacertosusDeus, your iPhone can do it for you automatically.

Level up your iPhone’s App Switcher with the Gemini jailbreak tweak

If there’s anything that jailbreaking my iPhone has taught me over the past several years, it’s that I should always come to expect more from iOS than Apple provides for it out of the box.

The aforementioned rule of thumb holds true in so many different respects, but one particular element of iOS that I find to be lacking features and intuitive integration is the App Switcher. It’s just… boring.

Enjoy awesome parallax wallpaper effects on your jailbroken iPhone with Eva

Your iPhone’s wallpaper is arguably one of the most personal things you’ll customize on your handset right out of the box. Having said that, it’s a popular thing even for jailbreakers to customize.

One thing worth staring, however, is that jailbreakers do things a little differently. Rather than using boring motionless wallpaper images, jailbreak tweaks can apply unique effects to your wallpaper images that you simply can’t experience on a stock handset.
