Snip & Chu is a handheld electronic game for the next generation

In the 1980s, handheld electronic games were all the rage. They ranged from clamshell style devices that were later used for Nintendo’s DS, to mini games that you could play on a watch. They featured an LCD screen with pre-set custom designs and a visual output similar to digital watch displays.

Snip & Chu harkens back to the old days with an iPad version of the handheld electronic games that we envied as kids and hoped to see in our Christmas stocking every year…

Rovio teases yet another new Angry Birds game

It hasn't even been a month yet since Rovio unveiled its new game 'Angry Birds Stella,' and the studio has already begun to tease a new title for its hit franchise. A 30-second clip showing a bird wearing a suit of armor popped up on Rovio's YouTube channel over the weekend.

The trailer instructs users to prepare for the most 'epic soft launch ever,' suggesting that the new game will be launching in the near future. It also tells us that the game will be arriving in Australia and Canada first, with other countries to follow shortly after. View the clip below...

Fruit Ninja developer Halfbrick Studios announces its latest puzzle game, Bears vs. Art

Halfbrick Studios may not be as prolific as big name studios when it comes to churning out new iPhone and iPad games on a monthly, sometimes even weekly basis, but their addictive games had me burn lots of midnight oil.

Today, the creator of Jetpack Joyride and Fruit Ninja has announced its latest puzzle game, Bears vs. Art. Soft-launched in Australia in Canada (global launch is due "soon"), Bears vs. Art involves Rory the bear and some stuck-up art connoisseurs.

The concept combines elements of speed and action to create "a totally new experience" in which our hero must sabotage supposed works of art in more than a hundred galleries. Finally a game that expresses bears' natural animosity toward art! I've included more tidbits and a trailer right below the fold...

Previously costing ten bucks a pop, the game is now available 50 percent off celebrating this update, or just $4.99 a pop in the App Store. The Way Home review – jump in time to get back home

Do you remember the early 1990s television show “Quantum Leap” starring future Star Trek captain Scott Bakula? In it, the show’s protagonist, Dr. Sam Beckett, is lost in time and must solve people’s problems (“put right what once went wrong”) in order to leap into a new era, trying to make it back to his own time.

The Way Home takes the theme from Quantum Leap and turns it into a fun arcade game. Live as Einstein, a fighter pilot, even a pregnant teen to find your way back home…

OnLive is alive and kicking again with new CloudLift game service

Once flying high on its $1.8 billion valuation, OnLive eventually crashed and burned, having sold out to Lauder Partners in 2012 for just $4.8 million - despite the true value of its patents estimated at the time in the range of hundreds of millions of dollars. For those unfamiliar with OnLive, it's a cloud-based service that streams games over the Internet.

Launched in 2009, it offloads code execution from a local device onto the OnLive cloud, where powerful computers render action based on your input, encode individual frames into a video stream which then gets delivered back to a thin client running on your end.

By virtue of the Internet itself, this allows for more or less smooth gameplay. As games actually run on servers, you don't need to own a ninja PC or install anything - the service automatically applies game patches, add-ons and updates, with the company upgrading its cloud when games push the performance envelope. As a result, you can play latest cutting-edge games on some rather pedestrian hardware.

On the downside, players complained about video artifacts and a slight but noticeable delay, dependent on a number of factors like your geographical location, server load, your Internet connection speed and so forth. After hiring former IGN boss Mark Jung as executive chairman, OnLive has now unveiled a new subscription-based game service, dubbed CloudLift...

Real Racing 3 gains iOS 7 controller support, Photo mode, car customization, Aston Martin and more

It’s hard to believe it’s been a year already since Electronic Arts released its free-to-play Real Racing 3 in the App Store. On the downside, a year is a long time in mobile so aside from avid fans, many casual gamers may have by now stopped enjoying this otherwise excellent racer.

If you needed an excuse to re-download and fire up Real Racing 3 on your device, Electronic Arts is celebrating the game's first anniversary and has marked the occasion by issuing a fresh content update today. It contains a bunch of new goodies, including support for the physical iOS 7 controllers helping turn Real Racing 3 into a more of a console experience.

Some of the surprises include deep car customization options along with a brand new Photo mode to go with it. "After seeing everyone creating amazing screenshots with Replays, we're excited to see what players do with Photo mode," developer Firemonkey teased.

As a bonus, you can now drive Aston Martin sports cars and everyone gets to grab a free 1972 Porsche 911 Carrera RS 2.7. Jump past the fold for the full reveal...
