Great news this afternoon for retro gaming fans. DotEmu has discounted 'Double Dragon Trilogy,' and several other hit iOS titles from its library down to $0.99. That's good for a savings of up to 80%, and all of the games support iPhone and iPad.

There appears to be a total of 7 DotEmu games on sale at the $1 mark, covering a wide range of genres. Double Dragon is perhaps the most recognizable, having seen dozens of releases, across several platforms, since 1987. We have the full list below.

Apple Stores shave 10 percent off Beats by Dr. Dre headphones until Saturday

Apple's short-term strategy regarding the $3 billion buy of Beats Electronics and Beats Music is starting to take shape with each passing day.

Not only is it actively advertising and selling Beats products through its brick-and-mortar locations and online retail stores, but now the California firm has shaved a cool 10 percent off all Beats by Dr. Dre headphones and assorted accessories.

This is virtually an unheard-of move — the company rarely discounts its own products by more than a meager few percents.

I'd say that it's kinda interesting seeing the maker of overpriced gadgets — as haters usually diss Apple — actually bring the overpriced Beats by Dr. Dre headphones to more bearable levels...

iOS journaling app Day One goes free as Apple’s new Free App of the Week

Day One by Bloom Built is one of the sleekest journaling programs available for iOS and OS X.

This fine piece of software has been named the 2014 Mac Apple Design Award Winner at WWDC last month, was 2012's Mac App of the Year and gets frequently highlighted by the App Store/Mac App Store editors.

Day One keeps your entries in sync via iCloud across platforms and puts back the fun in keeping a journal of your daily highlights, thoughts and memories.

Its rich feature set includes location/weather support, uncluttered interface styled for iOS 7, multi-Markdown text formatting, full screen mode, passcode lock and photographic entries, to name just a few. Readdle’s Scanner Pro now half price to celebrate 6M downloads, iOS 8 app in the works

Scanner Pro, one of the best apps for quickly scanning and saving a digital version of a paper document, has passed six million downloads since its App Store debut in December of 2009.

It's a noteworthy milestone in my book given the software costs seven bucks and has thus far gone temporarily free only once, as Apple's Free App of the Week in January.

To celebrate the milestone, Ukrainian developer Readdle has temporarily shaved 50 percent off Scanner Pro's asking price, now available for a limited time for just $2.99...
