Alto’s Adventure is launching next Thursday and I can’t wait to play it!

I don't have a clue about skiing and snowboarding, but that doesn't mean I'm not a sucker for winter games in the App Store. Especially if they're based on an endless running concept, incorporate artistic backdrops, have a somber soundtrack and delight with buttery-smooth execution.

That's why I'm so much looking forward to Alto’s Adventure, an upcoming iPhone and iPad game set against a beautiful, procedurally generated alpine landscape. The game is releasing in the App Store next Thursday, February 19 and it stands poised to become a big hit.

You can now install apps from Pinterest for iOS, App Store opens official Pinterest account

Pinterest, a visual discovery and sharing service, wants to make installing apps a frictionless process so yesterday they announced a new feature created in partnership with Apple, called App Pins.

In a nutshell, App Pins are special types of posts on Pinterest that feature an “Install” button. Tapping the button serves up iOS's standard App Store preview sheet with related app information, allowing users to install an app right there and then, without having to leave Pinterest.

Simplify for Mac review: access multiple media players from one controller

A third-party media controller can be very useful. I like having a special widget for Spotify right in my Mac’s Notification Center. What would really be nice is an app that allows you to control multiple players from one widget.

Simplify for Mac is a media player that lets you control the playback of iTunes, Spotify, Rdio, Pandora, and Vox right in your menu bar. We’ve got a detailed app review of Simplify for Mac today.

Starbucks app now supports Apple Pay

Reloading your Starbucks Card directly from the app just got that much easier, with today's update that brings support for Apple Pay. Although the coffee chain was listed as one of the Apple Pay partners at launch, it took the company several months to update their app to offer full support for Apple's new mobile payment service.

Radiation Island is like Lost mixed with Minecraft and The Walking Dead

One of iDB’s readers recently recommended we check out Radiation Island. I noticed in the App Store the day it launched, but had so much going on that I skipped it over without looking into what it was (that happens sometimes).

I am so glad our readers are on top of new releases because that recommendation led me to check the game out and I am hooked. Read my hands-on game review of Radiation Island below.
