Nomad launches iPhone car charger with 3,000 mAh battery, USB C and more

Nomad, makers of beautiful accessories for Apple's mobile gadgets, today announced a new car charger for the iPhone and other gadgets that offers some novel features normally not found in car chargers.

Billed as “the first battery pack designed for your car,” the Nomad Roadtrip integrates a 3,000 mAh battery and provides both the standard USB port and USB-C for charging the latest devices.

The best ultrathin cases for iPhone 6

We've been telling you about a variety of accessories for the iPhone 6 throughout the year. Our goal is to let you know the different options available so you can make a well-informed decision when choosing what to buy.

Below is an accessory round up for what we believe are some of the best ultrathin cases for the iPhone 6. You may recall our previous minimalist case list and wonder what the difference is. It's subtle, and sometimes they overlap, but minimalist cases focus on design, while ultra thin cases are all about being nearly invisible. If you don't see your favorite ultra thin case on our list, feel free to add it in the comments section.

Oeago’s Ultra Thin iPhone 6 case is just 0.3mm thick

One of the best features of the iPhone 6 is the ultra slim design. It is so thin, it could hide behind a CD case. You may want to protect your high tech device but not want to add any bulk at all.

Oeago makes an Ultra Thin case for the iPhone 6 that is actually the thinnest you can buy. At only 0.3mm thick and weighing only 0.3 ounces, the case adds the least amount of bulk to your iPhone 6 possible so you can maintain the same aesthetic you love.

Apple now selling third-party Watch accessories in its retail stores

Folks in the market for third-party Apple Watch accessories may want to keep an eye on their local Apple Stores. MacRumors has confirmed that the Cupertino company has begun carrying third-party Watch add-ons in at least some of its retail locations.

The first such accessory spotted in an Apple Store is ElevationLab's NightStand for Apple Watch. It's a simple, elegant stand, that costs $29.95 and it appears the company has partnered with Apple on product packaging and Sport band-matching colorways.

Skiva PowerFlow car charger juices up your iPhone fast

There is nothing worse than realizing that your iPhone's battery is drained when the only charger you have is for the car, especially if you aren't planning on driving for very long the next time you hit the road.

The Skiva PowerFlow car charger is a simple Lightning charger for the car with one special feature; it juices up your device with the fastest charge possible.

MagCable brings MagSafe-like experience with fast-charging to your iPhone

If the 12-inch MacBook is indicative of Apple's future plans, the popular MagSafe adapter is on its way out as USB-C comes into full view.

Sadly, USB-C is plagued with a major drawback: the standard doesn't use Apple's proprietary MagSafe charging method which employs magnets to ensure your notebook doesn't fly off a desk or wiggle the pins when you trip on the cord.

With MagSafe's future hanging in the balance, a company called aMagic Ltd. set out to replicate the MagSafe charging experience on Lightning-enabled iPhone, iPod touch and iPad devices.

Philips launches dimming kit for Hue wireless bulbs

Philips's 'Hue' programmable LED lights can now be controlled in a more traditional fashion with the new Hue Wireless Dimming Kit and white bulbs.

Announced this morning, the Dimming Kit allows you to adjust the brightness of up to ten white bulbs at the same time and can be installed directly on the wall or used as a remote control of sort for Hue lights.

The Hue Wireless Dimming Kit can be hooked up to Philips' existing Hue hardware via the company's Hue bridge accessory to control the standard Hue and Hue Lux lighting.

Review: RIF6 Cube Projector – a great iPhone companion?

The RIF6 Cube ($269 on Amazon) is a portable DLP projector that’s super-small at only 2”x 2”. You can literally fit this projector in your pocket and then use it to project an image from your iPhone’s screen up to 120”.

The main thing that the RIF6 has going for it is its size, or lack thereof. It’s so incredibly tiny, that it’s hard to believe that it can project anything, let alone a 120” picture.

The small size, though, is both a blessing and a curse for the RIF6. Due to its small size, it’s sub-HD at an 854x480 resolution. It also packs a speaker that features barely audible sound quality.

But I’ve decided that both of these downsides are things that most people will be able to live with, because you’re buying this projector for the incredible sense of portability and flexibility that it brings, not because it packs the latest and greatest features in projector technology.

Watch our video review inside as I highlight the unboxing of the RIF6 Cube, and showcase the basic setup and display capabilities that this svelte little device possesses.

Anker’s 40W five-port charger gets the job done for multiple devices at once

How many smartphones, tablets, and music players do you have in your household? Chances are, you have more than two. In some households, there are a lot more than that. Sometimes, it doesn't seem like there are enough plugs to charge everyone's gadgets.

Anker makes a 40W five-port charger that features specially designed device recognition technology so it will charge different types of gadgets at their fullest speed all at the same time, and you only need one wall plug.

Nomad Stand for Apple Watch review

In my apparently endless search for the perfect Apple Watch dock, I have come across the Nomad Stand. Its simple design is what caught my eye at first, but after using it for a few days, I can say there is more to it than meet the eyes.

Most of the stands for Apple Watch I've seen so far seem to take the wrong approach. They appear to try too hard to design something that in many cases doesn't compliment the design of the Apple Watch itself, but actually works against it.

Nomad Stand succeeds where many others have failed.

Keep your iPhone 6 charged at a distance with Bolse’s Cloth Jacketed Lightning Cable

There are two things wrong with Apple's Lightning cable. One is that the cord is just not long enough to be useful. The other is that it tends to tangle when not properly stored.

Bolse solves both of those problems with a six-foot MFi certified cord that is covered in a high-quality nylon jacket so you can plug your iPhone 6 into the wall and still use it while sitting on the couch.

Benuo Leather Folio Flip case adds a vintage look to your iPhone 6

If your fashion sense sits firmly in mid-century design, you may be more interested in a vintage look than Apple's modern minimalist look. It doesn't mean you can't have both.

Benuo makes a Leather Folio Flip case out of genuine grain leather with a retro theme that makes your iPhone look like it belongs in an episode of Mad Men.
