Is Apple developing a physical gaming controller for iOS devices?

That Apple is toying with a bunch of varied gaming controller concepts is anything but unknown. Two years ago, an interesting Apple patent detailing an accessory for playing games with portable devices surfaced in the United States Patents & Trademark Office's database.

It was originally filed back in September of 2008, meaning the company had likely begun researching the invention ahead of the original iPhone debut five years ago. The patent outlines a few exciting gaming accessories for portable devices, such as a receptacle system of sorts that could let your iPod be inserted to play games.

Another highlight worth mentioning is a gaming controller featuring cameras, motion sensing, a dual-display configuration and physical buttons on the back coupling a multitouch surface on the front.

And now, AnandTech drops a little nugget with claims that yes, Apple is in fact working on a gaming controller for iPads and other iOS devices...

Angry Birds Space downloaded ten million times in less than three days

Rovio Mobile, the brains behind the crazy addictive Angry Birds series, surely knows how to milk a franchise. In less than three days of its launch last Thursday morning, Angry Birds Space has been downloaded ten million times, the company tweeted. You'd expect Apple to put these kind of numbers rather than a game developer.

However, note that Angry Birds Space simultaneously launched on the iOS, Android, Mac and PC app stores and we're talking about a gaming series that has become a cultural phenomenon, spawning plush toys, costumes (even bra), animated TV series and allegedly coming to Hollywood as well.

Angry Birds Space now available to download from the App Store

We told you recently that those Angry Birds were going to make their way into space, and today Rovio released the new game for iOS gamers.

Angry Birds Space is pretty much what you would expect: Angry birds trying to finish those pesky pigs off, but with a distinctly starry flavour.

Available for both the iPhone/iPod touch and the iPad, Angry Birds Space takes to the skies, with planets and their own gravitational pull adding something very different to the tried and tested Angry Birds formula that has already made Rovio's games extremely popular across a range of devices. From what we've seen, this space-flavored version will be just as popular...

World of Warcraft producer says they’re looking into iPhone version

Ah World of Warcraft. The number one MMORPG (massively multiplayer online role playing game) is also likely the number one reason why gamers aged 12 - 60 don't see much sunlight. But that may not be the case for long.

Eurogamer recently spoke with WoW's senior producer John Lagrave about the possibility of Blizzard bringing the popular game to the iOS platform. And his comments are actually a lot more positive than you'd think...

iPad event demo game Sky Gamblers now available

As noted by MacRumors, the simulator known as Sky Gamblers: Air Supremacy has just gone live in the App Store. You might recognize the game from Apple's iPad event last week, as it was one of the titles demonstrated on stage.

So what's so special about Sky Gamblers? Well besides being one of the first apps to take advantage of the iPad's new features, its developers are saying that the game delivers "console quality single and multiplayer experiences."

See it in action after the break...

Here is what games will look like on a Retina display iPad

A Retina display seems almost confirmed to be featured on the iPad 3, as more rumors and pictures have popped up over the past few weeks. A Retina display on the iPad 3 will be of astonishing quality. Just look at your iPhone 4 or iPhone 4S screen's quality, and then picture it on the iPad. Just wow.

The guys over at Pixels on Toast have already started getting their upcoming game Food Run ready for the 2048×1536 resolution. In doing so, they have showed us what a game running on that high quality of screen looks like. And it looks amazing...

How to enable AirPlay Mirroring on your Mac with ‘Reflection’

It's one of those feature that seem so painfully obvious, but no one took advantage of the opportunity until now.

Reflection is an app for the Mac that allows you to use AirPlay Mirroring from your iPhone 4S or your iPad 2 directly to your Mac.

In times past, the only way to perform mirroring was via an Apple TV set-top box device. No longer.

Stick Cricket Super Sixes app review and giveaway

One of the most famous online cricket games has been available for your iOS devices for a good few months now, and it's fair to say I have a rather large addiction to the game.

Unlike the original Stick Cricket - free in the App Store - where the aim was to slog bowlers out of the ground, Stick Cricket Super Sixes now makes you take on a machine, the Bowlomatic 3000, hell bent on wiping you out...
