Ubisoft sets Prince of Persia release date: July 25

Montreuil, France-headquartered games publisher Ubisoft in mid-April confirmed plans to bring its award-winning Prince of Persia game to the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. A pick up and play adaptation of the 1993 Prince of Persia classic, Prince of Persia: The Shadow and The Flame puts you in the shoes of the Prince character who must save his Princess and kingdom “on a journey that will pave the path to his origins.”

Ubisoft yesterday confirmed in the first development diary video on YouTube that Prince of Persia: The Shadow and The Flame is headed to iOS and Android on July 25. I've included that clip and additional tidbits after the break...

Indie puzzle-platformer Limbo makes a leap to the iPhone

Copenhagen, Denmark-based game developer Playdead has been enjoying huge successes selling three million copies of its puzzle action adventure game Limbo on the Playstation 3, Xbox 360, Steam, Playstation Vita, as well as Windows and Mac PCs.

Developer Firemonkeys and publisher Electronic Arts thus far issued two major content updates to Real Racing 3, enriching the experience by adding hundreds of new events along with an assortment of new vehicles.

Today, the dynamic duo released a third tentatively named 'Prestige' update along the same lines. If you're a fan of high-speed racing games, the Prestige update should make you happy.

All premium Warner Bros games are 99 cents for a limited time

With the summer season officially here, game makers are increasingly turning to attractive discounts as a last-ditched effort to boost sales before games hit the beaches.

First was Sega, which slashed a bunch of iOS games to just 99 cents, followed by Epic Games' not-to-be-missed award-winning Infinity Blade II 99-cent sale. Those deals have expired now, but don't despair - Warner Bros. has you covered.

Rovio Stars’ next release Tiny Thief is coming to iOS next Thursday

Rovio's new publishing label Rovio Stars recently launched its inaugural title, A Viking Voyage by UK-based studio Nitrome. I've long thought that between the motion sensors built into the iPhone and iPod touch, and the AirPlay-compatible Apple TV, Tim Cook and company had a Wii-like gaming console on their hands. They just obviously, for whatever reason, haven't realized the potential yet.

But the folks over at Rolocule seem to get it. The India-based app-maker just released a new game called Motion Tennis that utilizes the gyroscope and other sensors stashed inside the iPhone, as well as the Apple TV's AirPlay feature, to offer Wii-like motion gameplay...

WSJ: Google working on Android game console, smartwatch and more

This is kind of interesting. Hot on the heels of reports that iOS 7 contains proper third-party support for physical game controllers comes word that Google is hard at work building a full-fledged gaming console and smartwatch based on its Android operating system.

The story comes from The Wall Street Journal, who reported last night that the Mountain View-based company is looking to expand its mobile platform beyond smartphones and tablets, and is hoping to combat similar devices that Apple may release in the future...
